My son did one of the 50-question FEMAs (IS-7) about a month ago and never got an email saying whether he passed or not. It was his first FEMA.
What do you think? Is this normal? Does FEMA only send an email when you complete a series?

Sandra it should only take a day or two. If you register and take a leadership series course (only 25 questions) you will get the lay of the land. Effective Communication or Leadership & Influence can be done with minimal study. I would have him take this series first since it gives him a Professional Development Series certificate and these are typically 25 questions each.

Did he write down his answers? If so just have him retake the exam. If it is already on record and he passed you will get an email stating that. He has nothing to lose.

Great answer. Yes remind him to make a copy of all exams before submitting.

There was a time last year when my wife did a few of them where they didn't send an email either. They had something wrong with the server or something like that. It took them about 2 or 3 weeks to finally send out the emails comfirming she had passed them.

I just checked and the IS-242 and IS-244 courses in this series aren't on the current list of FEMA's that are accepted.

But there are still plenty to choose from.
