Degree & School Help -
#1
I need some help in figuring out the quickest way to finish my Bachelors.  I have 32 credits I think from Community College 18 years ago.  Credits that Community College gave me from attending a Criminal Justice Academy.  I have Professional Certifications/Designations as well.
FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, 66 and ChFC designation from The American College

@michaelb82, in addition to that, provide more details in the last post addendum as well. We've had people with your certs and education go for the TESU BSBA, some went the General Management route and others went the Finance route, it all depends which AOS (area of study/18 credits interest you most) - at the end of the day, it's still a BSBA.

Sorry I was typing the courses and information last night and then it went away so I decided off to bed.

Your Location: Virginia, United States

Your Age: 40

What kind of degree do you want?: Was looking at Bachelor’s Business/Finance as my role won’t ever change and will not be changing companies - in it for the long haul. I don’t need to get a Bachelor’s but I figure if it’s something that can be done quickly than I’ll take on that challenge and might as well sit for the CFP Board Exam (which requires a Bachelor’s Degree - any discipline). I also have two young kids so showing them education is important even this late in life.

Current Regional Accredited Credits:

Northern Virginia Community College Total Credits: 32

All of those RA credits look good.

You've got a couple of different choices. If you want to get a degree quickly, and don't mind writing, there's UMPI. You've already got Spanish credits, which is good. Downside: there is no finance degree. They have other business degrees and you can see plans for them here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:UMPI

On the other hand, there is TESU. If the ACFS credits are upper level ones (I can't tell, but 300-level credits usually are), then it looks like you've got the most difficult part of a BSBA Finance completed already. You'd simply need to fill it out with gen eds and a few business courses. You can see suggested courses to do this here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...ts_Roadmap This would cost a bit more and likely take slightly longer than UMPI, but it would be a finance degree.

I don’t necessarily need a Finance degree - just figured since I am in that realm I could do that.  I could go another route such as Business Administration or Accounting.

I also found this on TESU’s site after doing a Google Search: TESU American College

What’s the best way to tell from what I have credits wise - what would translate over into TESU and UMPI?

I read somewhere not to enroll at UMPI because then they will not allow outside credits.  But could I send everything to TESU and see where I stand or is it always better to do all the Education pieces first than transfer and apply?

Essentially I guess I’m looking at comparing options and then seeing from a price, time, and what would translate best standpoint.

rachel83az suggested TESU Business Administration with a concentration in Finance
https://www.tesu.edu/business/undergradu...ba/finance

WIki TESU BSBA Finance Degree Plan
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...egree_Plan

All Wiki Degree Plans  (current plans are 2020 or newer)
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Ca...gree_Plans

All TESU degree options:
https://www.tesu.edu/academics/online-degrees

With TESU you can decide which concentration you want later on, or you can opt to do a double concentration if you want to do extra courses. Or take whatever courses you want even if it fits no degree plan and your electives are filled up. Those courses will still go on your final transcript, and in the end, nobody will know if the underwater basketweaving course use to be a part of the Business Admin requirements.

UMPI is quicker than TESU if you start from scratch because of the 30 RA requirements. However, since you already have 30 RA credits, this isn't an issue and should be similar in speed.

Certifications: W3Schools PHP, Google IT Support, Google Digital Marketing, Google Project Management

There's no problem enrolling at TESU and sending transcripts over. You initially pay a $50 application fee. To get more than two transcripts evaluated, you need to be enrolled. The cheapest way is to sign up for the 1cr Medical Terminology TECEP for $52. Don't bother to take the exam, just register for it. That will get you one year's enrollment. If you haven't started taking TESU courses before the year is up, just sign up for the TECEP again.

@michaelb82, could you be more specific in the number of hours you may have per day to invest in your education? I think this is critical as you have a job and kids. It'll really sway your decision to stay with TESU or UMPI depending on the flexibility you have with commitments. I am leaning towards TESU, unless you really have a set number of hours dedicated to plow through UMPI courses in two or three sessions.
