Degree Question
#1
I have a few questions:

Is there any advantage to having an AA and a BS in the same Field? (General Management).

Can I tell my College that I don't want an AA Degree, and do the BS instead?

Do they charge you graduation fee for both?

I have 15 CR left to complete the AA, and 30 for the BS.....I am leaning toward staying on the course set by my evaluation, but.....if there is a better deal/option, I would like to look at it before it is too late.

I will call TESC on Monday........but I am going crazy just thinking about.

I got both, but wish I hadn't wasted my $ on the AA. The thing is, once you have it you can't say you don't- and now I have had people ask how I got my AA and BA only 3 months apart, which requires explaining.

You can earn one or both, you just can't get them both in the same semester. Yes, you pay the graduation fee for EACH degree.

. . .

I just wouldn't mention the AA any more after finishing the BA. Smile

But it does show up in the clearinghouses, and when you fill out a paper asking for all transcripts or all degrees earned, you have to disclose everything that you sign your name too or you're asking for trouble.

You need 15 more credits for the AA, and 15 credits beyond that for the BS, right? How long will it take to earn those last 15 credits for the BS?

ROI, once again, is the factor. If it will take you another year after finishing the AA to finish the BS, and you will benefit from having an associates degree in that year between the AA conferral and the BS conferral, then it may be worth the additional graduation fee.

If it would only take another 3-6 months to get the additional credits, then it seems pointless to get the AA - unless you absolutely need to have a degree ASAP for work-related reasons. And as cookderosa (nursederosa!) points out, you may find yourself having to explain how you went from AA to BS in just a few months.

You'll never escape any degree you take. You'll never even escape any class you take. Just wait until you apply for grad school or a second baccalaureate, and have to request transcripts from every school you attended after high school no matter how long ago that was...

April 4 2009 through July 6 2009: 1 GRE subject exam + 1 Penn Foster credit + 11 DANTES exams = 61 credits. Average per-credit cost = $23.44.

I should be done in 3-6 months............I never thought about explaining the degrees. I am waiting on an evalulation to see where I have the most Credits......Psy or General Management.

I have always wanted to do Psy.....but most my credits were in Business so I took that option.........until I started testing.......... ... then everthing changed.....Now I have Role Models and a lot more options/choices.

Update:

I spoke with an Advisor ...and changed to AA/AAS (I am not sure which one it is) degree...I now only need 9 credits to finish...a math and English. This will only cost me about $500.00 including graduation. I'll use this as a back-up plan.

I will be finishing up with a Psychology Degree because I have more credits there.....after that I will make a decision on another BA in Business or Masters in Business or Education.

Not sure. I think you need to be there if you're getting financial aid.
