Any certifications or military experience? no military, but I'm checking with him on industrial certifications he may have achieved at work.

I'm trying to help my son earn his Bachelors degree in the most time efficient way possible.  Thankfully the cost isn't a problem because his current employer will pay for the tuition.  Utilizing his previous credits an getting through quickly is his main objective.  We are considering the BAAS program in either Organizational Leadership or Applied Science (not really sure what the differences are or which would be the best fit).

We would appreciate any assistance.  If anyone knows the process of getting started with TAMUC we would appreciate the 'step by step' information.  Do we wait until we have 84 hours until we apply?  (This makes me nervous that TAMUC might change their policy and decide to reject ACE at some point.)

Does anyone know if my son's technical coursework at TSTC might apply somehow?  I would hate to leave 45 hours of (technical course) credit on the table.  TAMUC mentions "Students who have military training and/or coursework from professional training schools should consider contracting with Excelsior College’s OneTranscript service to have prior learning and courses transcripted into one consolidated transcript document."  Not sure if this is something we should consider.  Anyone have experience with this process?

I think we have almost all the Core requirements done.  He can probably CLEP out of ENGL Comp. Modular, if that counts.

Thanks for any and all input!

You should list out all the courses from TSTC in order for anyone to answer if they'll apply to another degree. The post wasn't clear (to me) at first they he had actually completed an associate degree. Also, TSTC is a RA school, there is no reason to utilize Excelsior College’s OneTranscript - you have no need for that service (and the costs associated with it).

Have a look at what classes transferred for me:
Click here for my transfer classes

Also, look at the wiki for TAMUC BAAS ORGL
wiki link

You can apply to TAMUC on their webpage, and send your transcripts through Parchment from TSTC and Sophia.

What is the 45 hours that you do not want to leave on the table? You should list those classes also.

I had 42 hours of automotive classes at community college transfer to TAMUC for the professional development electives portion.

The following Technical classes were transferred into the Professional Development Electives portion for TAMUC.

If your son took classes like this at TSTC they should transfer into the same category. TAMUC is very generous on transferring classes from Community College and Sophia.

AUTO1513 - Auto Engines - San Jacinto College
AUTO2511 - Auto Drive & Diagns - San Jacinto College
TTEN1311 - Auto Skls & Pre Dvy - San Jacinto College
TTEN2411 - Auto Tran Tr-Axle - San Jacinto College
TTEN2310 - Coop Work Exp - San Jacinto College
TTEN2311 - Climate Cntrl Sys - San Jacinto College
TTEN2312 - Toyota Brakes & Sus - San Jacinto College
ELEC1310 - Electrical Tech/Assoc Dg - San Jacinto College

The good thing about TAMUC is you are not paying an application fee until you register for your 1st 7 week semester. I would go ahead and apply and send in your current transcripts for evaluation, so you can see what other classes are necessary.

I am not sure how they will evaluate your English classes, you may need to CLEP out of the other English class you mention. I am not 100% on that.

When I started looking at getting a Bachelor's degree, I did not think many of my hours from CC would transfer. I was glad I sent my transcript into TAMUC, once I saw what they accepted, it was a huge relief to see that after CC and a few Sophia classes, I only needed to take 14 classes at TAMUC.

@agsfisher, you missed the template where it asks to provide more details... With the info you've provided, you need to have a conversation with your son and see if he's interested in the BAAS options or the BGS and finalize that... Apply, send all transcripts to get an evaluation, make sure to max that up to the 84 credits or so by following the recommendations on the WIKI. Once done, the remaining 33-36 credits would need to be completed at TAMUC...
