Hi all, thank you for your insights on the test. This was my first DSST exam. I have significant experience managing people in various leadership roles for a large company. I found this test very frustrating despite passing it. I studied DSST prep book, took 3 practice tests, reviewed an answered many of the instacert questions several time, and researched many other sources of information. I scored 86 on the free CLEP exam and 94 on the Prep book questions. Despite all this and knowing many of the key figures who contributed to organizational behavior, the theories, and many of the definitions I found my test was not structured at all like I would have envisioned. Most of it felt very situational and introducing questions I frankly did not recognize and felt it was poorly written. I found myself simply drawing on my common sense experience vs. the learnings I worked so hard on absorbing.
For those that have taken this and other exams, is this how all the DSST and CLEP exam tests are written?
I really felt like I would fly through this and clearly did not. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

And did you take the time to log into your DSST account and provide some feedback to DSST about the structure/wording of the test? You are not the first person who has expressed some frustration with the wording used in the DSST exams, but I have yet to hear of anyone actually taking the time to provide any feedback to DSST. They are not going to fix anything if no one complains or makes suggestions.

Wow...I just took the test and I barely passed! 403/400...But a passing score is a passing score. Thank you, Jesus! This test is definitely harder than expected. The way the questions are formed are to get you to really think about the answer. And even the answers are not "cut & dry." You have to know the concepts of each theory, leadership style, decision making process, motivation aspect. Just knowing the definition of the words or memorizing the glossary will NOT get over the threshold. I marked 7 questions for review and I think I changed 2 or 3. So it could be either the changes helped me or they hurt me...either way, one more down! Please review all the materials mentioned in the thread and the do the practice test also. Try to get as familiar as possible with the materials and you will pass! Also, I must say that I didn't use IC...in retrospect, I probable should have.

I have taken that one and it was exactly what was on InstantCert.
However, there are a number of different versions of each test. For example, the Here's to your Health test I got was almost ALL neurophysiology. I thought I was going to die when I saw the questions. Another test that I took was almost word-for-word the same as InstantCert and my practice tests.
I passed all 14 tests I took and some of the I passed with almost perfect scores. I over-studied for each of them. Even when I over-studied each one I took was full of uncertainty as I clicked on the "Score/Results" key.

I'd hold my breath until the passing score popped up.

I recently took the Organizational Behavior DSST exam and failed with a 360. It was the first Dantes/Clep exam I have taken and my university didn't help much with informing me on how they work. I studied the DSST study guide for Org. Behavior inside and out. There were hardly any questions on the exam that were covered in the study book. For awhile I even thought I had been taking the wrong exam. Now I am reading about the InstaCert and it sounds like that would help me pass. Does anyone think the InstaCert would help me pass the second time? I am a straight A student and a senior in college; not used to failing. Also could anyone explain how the scoring works? There's one hundred questions on the exam and I need a 400. That's all I know.
Thanks!

If you go to the DSST test site and dig down into it, it tells you how the tests are scored to some extent. I passed 14 CLEP/DSST/Uexcel tests with just InstantCert or mostly InstantCert. When you pay the monthly fee for InstantCert it also gives you access to the Specific Exam feedback area that is really helpful.
