Hi:
This is my first post. Has anyone taken Money and Banking recently (i.e. 2012 or 2013). So far, all of the post I have read is quite discouraging. I have been studying for about a month now using a variety of sources but I think I might have been wasting my time using so many different sources. Does anyone know if there are a lot of questions on:
Aggregate Supply/Aggregate Demand
Graphs in general
Calculations (earnings per share, yield curve, PV/FV)
I am planning to take the test this month and could use some motivating advise. Oh, I am also using IC to study!
Thanks,
NS

I will be taking the same test next Thursday. Hoping to pass, but I'm not so sure based on what I read either. I barely failed the principles of finance one and had to take the course. The calculations are what got me on that test...

I looked at this test and laughed. There was no way I was going to pass it. I decided to take the Penn Foster class Financial Management instead, for $225 dollars. Its accredited through ACE, and while not easy, its well within my reach.

I just took this test on Jan. 18th, and barely passed with a 48 (pass=47). You can do better if avoid making the same mistakes I made!
The main mistake I made, was to only take two free practice tests (found on the thread at the end of this reply), that were helpful, but not very similar to the actual test. I really wish I had gone ahead and paid $5 for the Official DSST practice test. This would've really given me a better idea of whether or not I was ready for the test. (not that a higher score means anything much; a pass is a pass! ).
I would suggest getting about 60% on your practice tests, but especially on the Official DSST practice test. (I got 57 and 58 on my practice tests, but I'm sure it would've been lower on the Official DSST test, if I had done it!).
To answer your question, there were very few math questions, (the ones I did get (4-5) were relatively simple non-calculator calculations), no graph questions, and nothing about Agg. supply/demand as far as I can remember.
Money and Banking mostly consists of: Gov.s role in $/banks (Fed, $/fiscal policy, banks (all types) and how they work, types of $, Exchanging currency with other nations and related topics, and some Economics (mostly Macro.)
It helped that I took Macro/Micro economics awhile back, but the test didn't really have much in common with Accounting (for which I did terribly), or Principles of Finance.
The thread below notes (at the end) a few things I noted that IC didn't cover in the flashcards to go over, plus a bunch of other probably helpful stuff.

Hi Starlinghunter: Thanks a lot for your feedback. I really appreciate it. Well, I plan on studying like crazy today and for the next three days. I don't want to delay this any longer out of fear I might forget some of what I learned. The study materials and guidance I found on this forum is amazing! I will let you all know how I make out.

Hey Asetek...Good luck with your exam. Have faith. I here there aren't too many calculations on this exam and if there are any I trust they would not be as complicated as Principles of Finance. I also have to take Principles of Finance but I will worry about it after I complete Money and Banking.

I took Money and Banking DSST today and passed it with a score of 58!
I'm posting my feedback on this thread since I no longer have access to the "Specific Feedback" board.
However, the information on the feedback thread is spot on, and I recommend going through it when prepping. There is zip file that you can download on that thread that is filled with study notes, powerpoints, a couple of books, etc... In short, the zip has a whole bunch of information, and should be enough for this exam. I also felt that the Macroeconomics course, and the first part of Financial Management Penn Foster course, that I have taken served as a great base for prep of this exam. I would definitely advise future test takers to take the Macro CLEP (or course) and Finance DSST (or course) before attempting this exam.
Lastly, as most have recently posted, this exam is doable. I found material very enjoyable to learn and the exam is not as horrible as others have made it out to be.

Not to be discougaging but months back I took M&B and failed with a 47. 48 is passing. The crazy part is when I was done taking the paper and pencil version of the exam, I thought for sure that I passed and really was happy. Imagine my horror weeks later when I seen I failed by a single point. I have to retest in about 8 months or so which I'm not really dreading since I have a good foundation for it and I know I can pull off another point atleast for passing. The morale of the story is it is better to over prepare than under for this particular exam.
