DSST Ethics in America = TESU Ethics in Social Sciences?
#1
Hi,
Does anyone know if the DSST Ethics in America exam is equivalent to TESU's Ethics in Social Sciences?

the description for the DSST exam on the ACE site is:
DSST Ethics in America is a multiple-choice exam designed to evaluate whether candidates possess the knowledge and understanding that would be gained by taking a lower level college course in Ethics. This exam covers topics including ethical traditions and analysis in various relationships, embryonic stem-cell research, euthanasia, affirmative action, and capital punishment.

and on the TESU course: Ethics in the Social Sciences begins with an introduction to moral theory, then surveys research regulation and research ethics, uses of authorship, plagiarism, peer review, data ownership and stewardship. Also examined is human subjects research and informed consent; research using live animals; and the clinician-patient relationship. Case studies are derived from anthropology, sociology, and psychology.

Do you think they're close enough?

At TESU, Ethics is America comes in as PHI-287 (a LL course). Their Ethics in the SocSci is SOS-450, which is UL and considered a SOS course as much as an Ethics course.

Is Ethics in the SocSci course required for your degree? If not, then it doesn't matter, you can use any Ethics course for the Ethics requirement in the Gen Ed area.

The only degree program that I think requires that course is the Psych degree, and that DSST exam will not satisfy the Ethics SocSci requirement for that particular program.

The good news is that class is extremely easy. The bad news is that, like all TESU classes, it's crazy expensive. If you can find it for cheap at a local school, that would definitely be a better option. I couldn't find anything similar around here.

But, like dfrecore stated above, if you're not pursuing a Pysch degree and your program doesn't require this specific course, you should go with one of the other very easy, cheap (or free) options instead.
