BYU question
#1
Hi All! I am brand new here and so happy that I found this forum. I have an AA from a B&M school, and now am enrolling in Concorde Career College. When I took Microbiology, I received a "C", so I am unable to transfer that class to Concorde. I know that Excelsior has a test for that, but I think that Concorde only accepts CLEP tests. I also found out, from this forum, about BYU distance learning, and they have a Microbiology class . Can anyone tell me if they think that Concorde, or any other college, would accept a class from BYU? I know very little about BYU, so I was hoping that someone here may know.

Thanks for any help!!

Most schools I've seen take "C" grades, I guess they just want to make you spend money to take it again. Most I've seen will even take a "D" depending on the course subject. I'm not sure what kind of major you are looking at but I'm going to come right out and say it, I (along with many people on here) will recommend against schools lacking a regional accreditation. Down the road if you wish to change schools or go on further, your credits are not going to be easy to transfer from Concorde or other schools lacking the right accreditation. This site primarily focuses on the "big three" schools so you're likely to find info on course transfers from BYU by using the search feature in the upper right. Concorde returns zero results so I'm not sure where to guide you other than to talk to them and ask if they will take the course.

Good Luck
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

Thank you for the insight. Concorde does have an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. They are after more money, however, I am doing everything in my power to save all the money that I can. Smile Once I sit for the national exam for R/T, I plan to go to TESC to get a Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy.

Just remember anything you take at Concorde is unlikely to transfer to TESC or most other schools.

For TESC just make sure it is regionally accredited and then they at least are worth something. Thomas Edison State College: Transfer credit earned at other colleges and universities to Thomas Edison State College

As such, no, but here's a partial workaround if sweattea earned an applicable national certification:
TESC will award 23 sh to holders of an NBRC-CRTT national board certification as a Respiratory Therapy Technician, or 44 sh to holders of an NBRC-RRT national board certification as a Respiratory Care Therapist. Licenses & Certifications (TESC)
