My 15 year old is going to take this in the fall, but I'm not sure which one. Has anyone noticed that they have 2 full courses- the first says 2 semesters, but the second one only lists 3 classes and they call them "first quarter, second quarter, third quarter" which makes me wonder- where is 4th quarter?? Anyway, I'll have him take the CLEP at the end of the year. Cook,
College either run on a semester or quarter system. In the semester system you would take Bio I first semester and Bio II second semester or English I first semester and English II second semester. That would constitute a full year of college English of College Biology.
It's kind of the same in the quarter system. You take 3 quarters of a class to get a years worth of college ccredit. It would be Bio I, Bio II and Bio III using our example- the equivalent of Bio I and Bio II in the semester system.
At colleges that use the quarters system, they usually run Sept-Dec, Jan-mid March, March-June and summer quarter late June-August. I liked the quarter system at my first college. Around the time spring hit and I was bored with my professor/class- BAM- new classes!
Confusing isn't it? You hear "quarter and you think 4!

Is fourth quarter there like the 19th hole on Golf courses?
I'll be in the clubhouse knocking back a few..errr.. studying for the next 1st quarter... Thats it... Yeah, studying... Two-fisted studying... :hurray:
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.
Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree

Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

I signed up for the free trial using the link. It says I should get confirmation in a few days.
I had my brother sign up for the trial on the ALeks website using his e-mail addy and then I took the quiz. Well, the Beginning Algebra was a cinch. I usually don't get tripped up with math until I get to Quadratic equations and that is not until the ned ot Beg Algebra.
I may just go ahead today and pay the $20. I don't want to wiat three days on the link, since it looks like I may be able to knock out beg Algebra and Intermediate Algebra by Friday College Algebra over the weekend.
That would free be up to do Statistics, Trigonomety and Precalcus the rest of the month.

Ok, I think I get it what you are saying. BTW, whoever designed a quarter system to include 3 terms is an idiot.

So how long do I have to wait for the ALEKS course to show up on my ACE transcript?
I am finished with Beg Algebra and want to start the next one ASAP as I am on a time schedule.
I want to get through Intermediate Algebra and half way through College Algebra by Friday!
72 hours? Less?
Can I go ahead and start or am I risking it? Anyone?
UPDATE:::: So at ACE it says "APPROVED - SUBMITTED TO ACE FOR PROCESSING." Can I move on now?

Congrats on your course completion! Yes, ACE has now received the necessary information from ALEKS; you can move on to your next course! Many have advised you take a screenshot of the ALEKS results page before switching over. Can also print a pdf of assessment report.
Good luck! I actually enjoy aleks.:o
