Credit Expiration Dates ?
#1
Can someone tell me the latest and greatest on how long these various credits are good for? As of right now I plan to roll them into TESC at some point.

Local Community College
FEMA Courses
CLEP/DSST

I’ve been slowly chipping away at my degree for awhile now, FT job, family etc, like many of you, but I was told the other day that if I speed up my progress I might be able to get a promotion here at work. I just want to make sure I don’t let any of my current credits expire and set a good timeline. I know I should probably ask the schools in question, but I figured many of you are already on top of this.

Thank you

CLEP/DSST at least 20 years
Local CC should have essentially no expiration date
FEMA should be available for a long time, some of mine are pushing 10 years now and still pop ip on the transcript.

With that said, it's always up to the receiving school to decide what they will accept. Nursing pre-reqs for example may have a shelf life of <5 years, I believe COSC wants your Business Core (if pursuing business) to be < 20 years old.

SO your good for a long time in most circumstances, several here have mentioned using credits in excess of 30 years at the Big 3. Many of my credits used at COSC were 20 plus years old when I used them.

Best,

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

I believe there is a difference between how long the actual testing program keeps your records vs. how long your credits are "good." I have seen some universities post their acceptance policy for the CLEP and/or DSST program where they say you must have taken the exam within the past 10 years. Always check your university's credit/transfer policy for the best answer.

That sounds like it is pretty important in your life. So, you shouldn't be asking here. Nothing we say is official - it's just our opinion. Do your due diligence and send an email to TESC and get them to tell you what their official policy is.

The last thing i remember was seeing 10-20 years, but wanted to know if anything had changed. I will be sure to check with the school before I enroll. Thank you for your knowledge and quick reply.
