Hello,
I'm having difficulty understanding what's the difference between General Education credits and Free Elective credits? How can I tell the difference between the two? Are certain courses specifically general ed courses and are others specifically free elects. This is specifically pertaining to TESC and COSC.
Thank to all of you lovely people in advance. You all have been very helpful.

General education electives must fit into Humanities, social science, Math or science. In other words no business or flull. anything that does not fit into the above can be used for free electives

Some of the details can vary a bit between schools (like computing).
I know that COSC has a list on their website:

For more examples, here is a great post:

(Note some comments about TESC policies, like upper-level, have changed.)

This should give you an idea.
Thomas Edison State College | General Education Electives
Also, if you have overage from general education and area of study, those credits will go into free electives.

No. FEMA credits almost always go in free electives. The only time they can be applied somewhere else is in the area of study for the Homeland Security and Environmental, Safety, and Security Technologies programs.
