Congrats to all the June graduates! I was compelled to come back and look at this thread because I finally had my degree conferred by TESU after my debacle with UMPI (
https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Screwing-you-out-of-credits ). I just looked back at my original post and was flabbergasted to see so much hate! My goodness, I posted out of frustration that night but also in an attempt to help others. So hopefully my story helped someone. I'm sure there are other stories, too! Glad we're all getting done what we need to get done

. Transcript attached so you can see all the courses UMPI wouldn't accept as upper level courses lol. They only accepted biochemistry as an upper level course, which is hilarious because biochem is actually only offered through the graduate school at NYU, so that was actually a graduate level course, not even an undergrad course.
Now I've already started my Masters, also online but this time from San Diego State University. So happy to finally have crushed the shame of not graduating "on time" and to feel forward momentum again. Hang in there y'all, you can do it!

Whenever transferring credits the credits have to be accepted by the receiving school. No one has ever said transferring was easy. It's 100% not easy. You have a lot of science and history/poli sci credits. Those don't work well at UMPI for the BLS because they require 24 UL credits. Most science courses aren't UL. Doesn't matter if NYU calls them UL. Other schools may consider them LL or not accept them. It's at their discretion. You completed 2 courses at UMPI so you did enroll. Not sure why you left. From your original post in October until now you totally could have graduated from UMPI. Most people are done at UMPI in 2-3 sessions.

Yep! You got it right! I did enroll at UMPI for a term. And after enrolling suddenly my credits weren't good enough for UMPI. I would not have been able to graduate nearly as quickly as I was told. Which is what the original post was about. So, in my personal experience, transferring to UMPI was a mistake. And in my personal experience, transferring to TESU ended up being way easier. They did all the work and got all the syllabuses they needed without asking me to do anything! It was a really great experience after the hassle of UMPI's transfer process. So, my suggestion would be to make sure you have your transfer credits applied exactly how they should be applied before you pay them anything. Because "just a few days" or "in a few weeks" or "after you contact __" can easily turn into never.
I'm just telling my story with the hope someone else will find it useful...that's the beauty of writing and the internet. The ugly side is people assuming your experience somehow invalidates theirs, or that invalidating yours somehow makes their own more palatable.
You are all amazing and capable of succeeding no matter how many mistakes you make. Lord knows I've made a lot! But a mistake is the best opportunity to learn exactly what went wrong so you can do better next time. So everytime you fail, be excited about getting to do better next time!

Hey! Congrats on finishing your degree! It's a BALS without a concentration? Hmm, I thought you would have gotten a concentration out of it or something, were you closer to something or not? Anyways, it wouldn't really matter if you chose one or not... Onwards with the Masters you go! Good luck, have fun, keep on trucking until you finish that Masters! Cheers...

I am not sure if you understand credit transfer or not and how credit transfer works. But as UMPI Grad, according to your transcript there is nothing that would have fulfilled the upper level requirements anyways. Not only that you still would have to meet the 30 CR residency requirement. I wish not to be rude but the original post was misinformation and lack of overall understanding of UMPI. It's okay now. We wish you the best.

Congratulations graduating from the school that worked best for you - after all, there is no one perfect school solution that works for all here on this forum. Best of luck with your graduate degree.
