Marketing vs. Management CLEP
#1
Hi Everyone! I was wondering if anyone has taken the Principles of Marketing and Principles of Management CLEPs. I'll probably end up taking both, but I'd like to know if anyone would suggest taking one before the other, or if it doesn't matter. I'm not a math-oriented person, so I'm wondering if they would be difficult (I did pass the College Algebra CLEP though--barely :o ) Thanks for your help!

Oh, and how does the Principles of Supervision DSST compare?

Of the three you mentioned, I would take Principles of Supervision first followed by Principles of Management then Principles of Marketing. It really depends on what you already know. I took them in the order I suggested and passed them all. Best of luck!

These were some of my first tests. Go buy the REA books for these tests and read them cover to cover doing all three practice tests and paying attention to the detailed answers to the questions.
If you study for management you can take mgmt and supervision in the same sitting as supervision is really a watered down management test IMHO.
Marketing is simple if you read the book and don't try to cut corners.

Remember you are replacing 10 weeks of sitting in lectures, participating in group projects, writing papers, taking quizzes, staying up late studying for tests etc with each of these exams so give it the right amount of prep time.

I passed Marketing, then Management, then Supervision. Marketing was the most fun, IMHO Smile The REA book and PTs are essential for it. I agree with Ryoder, the other 2 can be taken on the same day.

I did Marketing, Management, and Supervision, in that order. Marketing doesn't have as much to do with the other two (used the REA book and IC). I studied really hard for Management (used IC flashcards and Principles of Management, along with the free practice test at FreeCLEPPrep.com), then when I took the Peterson's Supervision PT a few days later, I got 82% without any extra study. Of course, I looked over a few of the concepts and terms that I hadn't run across in the Management test. I had one or two math questions (simple ones) out of the three tests. If you need all three tests, Management and Supervision could be taken on the same day. Or if you don't, it might almost be better to study for the Management first, really get that down, then go and fly through Supervision. Big Grin

I used IC, petersons practice and some online iTunesU videos for both of these and they were fairly simple if you have a decent memory and go through the flashcards at least 3 times. I did about 1 week prep time for each.
