Hi everyone
This is my first time here, and looking for some advise and help. I have a three years Bachelor in Arts Degree from India, Delhi University, major in English. Low GPA - 2.22 and 90 semester credits.
I also have more than 10 years of experience in IT field, and need to study to better my job prospects.
My degree from India is not equivalant to a undergraduate in the U.S and hence I cannot pursue a master's or a graduate programme.
Iam very interested in pursuing a M.S in Management and Systems from SCPS NYU.
How can I use CLEP or DSST or Excelsior to better my GPA and score a masters without spending too much
money and time?
I do want to study something from SCPS NYU, since I live in NYU. Should I do a Associates Degree to earn the necessary credits?
I really want to make up from my credits which are short of an undergraduate and earn a master degree.
All the help is appreciated.
Thanks,
jasjeet virk

Hi Jasjeet,
Welcome to the forum. If I were you, I would first check out the CUNY program here
Online B.S. in Business
When you go through the FAQ, you can see that they evaluate/accept international credit. If you could transfer/test out of 90 credits and take the remaining 30 credits from the CUNY Business program, your total costs would probably come close to that required for an Excelsior degree. They also have a MS Management program that you may be interested in.
Although you may be set on NYU, please realize that there are quality distance programs that you can get into with a 2.5 GPA, like this one
Department of Management Information Systems
Also, sometimes times you can take graduate classes as a non-degree student or as a probational student if you enter with a low GPA.....if you do well then you may be admitted as a regular student.
Now to answer your original question as it was asked...I graduated from Excelsior with a 3.01 starting with around 60 credits and a GPA just over 2.2. I raised my GPA by scoring well on DSST exams that were given letter grades by Excelsior, taking and transferring in 3 A's (9 credits) from a community college, and testing out of courses that I had done poorly in the first time around thereby eliminating some D's from the GPA. Excelsior international credit evaluation is explained here
https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_Coll...Evaluation
Good luck whatever you decide!

i'm not a fan of the cuny program. the schools are funny and weird these days. they recently got out of the open admissions policy (taking everyone), but for too long were considered to be crappy schools. a ton of beauracracy and weird rules. make sure you aware of the CPE exam as well as various other placement exams.
