Community College Credits
#1
If I have 92 credit hours at a junior college. My question is, how does that transfer to the "big 3"?

At LU if the class is 3 credits at a junior college will they mark it down to 2.something and have me make up the rest in electives? Thanks.

No.
First, any degree has a list of requirements- so many credits of this, so many credits of that. You could have 92 credits in math, but that isn't a degree because the distribution is wrong.

Second, a junior college (and community college-same thing) use either semester credits or quarter credits. You can google a converter if you need to figure out how to go between the two. If your school is on the semester credit (so are the big 3) then no conversion is necessary. 3 credits is 3 credis.

Third, check out this post I did a million years ago about how to do your own unofficial evaluation. There were a lot of contributors too, and I think it's a good jumping off point so you can evaluate what you have and what you might need. http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...ht=dummies

***P.S. you have A LOT of credit. Don't do anything until you get an unofficial evaluation. You are (literally) a month or two away from completing a degree, meaning you don't want to waste that time or money on a class/test that won't count. Don't take anything without that eval in your hand. Your 92 credits must fill specific slots, and in turn, you must know exactly which slots remain for you to fill.

Welcome to the board!!

Thanks for the reply. I did not do a good job of clarifying where I am academically. I have 92 quarter hours and 36 semester hours. My question is if the big three require, for example, ENG 101 and ENG 102. I have both of these in quarter hours. Do I have to take another English class or can I make up the credits somewhere else.'

**On a side note. It really is a shame because the quarter hour school,Chemeketa Community College, was much more work than American Public University.

TESC will require 6 credits hours of English Comp. In schools on the semester hour, that's usually ENG101 and ENG102, but on a quarter hour system you'll likely find ENG103 in there too.
You can do the conversion using a google calculator, but you should probably apply and get an unofficial evaluation. It's valid for 6 months and counts toward enrollment if you go forward.
