Hi,
I am new at this. Does anyone have a guide to the notation used on this site. Some of it is different from my textbook, so this is confusing. Thanks, Pointworthy

Are you sure the symbols are coming up correctly for you? If you're using Firefox, the college math symbols may not be showing up correctly for you. If you're using a Mac, then you may not have the Symbol font installed...

I am using Firefox.
Is there something I can download to make it work right?

What section are you having trouble with? I'm about to start using those cards myself and I use Firefox, but I may be able to figure out a workaround.

Well, I just took a look and found the problem. Here's an HTML snippet from the flashcards that shows as the square root of 3 in Internet Explorer, but not Firefox:
[HTML]<font face=symbol>Ã</font>3[/HTML] The developer is forcing the page to use the Windows "Symbol" font to display the square root symbol. That is the easiest way to go about it, but Firefox the past several years has stopped supporting it for some reason. The workaround apparently is to either (a) modify Firefox settings in a config file, or (b) modify the font file itself. Something to do with encodings, probably that Firefox is doing unicode something something and the symbol font is old and something something more to make your head hurt. In other words, the real workaround is to use Internet Explorer. banghead
