I have one week to study for the College Composition exam, and I had a few questions about resources.
1. Is this a pretty basic exam? I got a very high score on the English section of my ACT, so I'm not too concerned, but wondering about anyone else's experience?
2. If I mostly use the CLEP Official Study Guide, supplementing it with my English/Grammar book, is that enough to get me through the exam?
3. Just curious if anyone has used Cracking the ACT by Princeton Review (the English section) to help them with this test? It was wonderful for preparing me for my ACT...is it similar to this test?
4. How much does the Official Study Guide change from year to year? I have the 2011 version...is that still valid for these tests?
5. Any other tips or suggestions?
Thank you for your help!

The official study guide changes very little. It's better to buy an older edition for a few dollars instead of a new edition at full price. If you did well on the ACT English exam, that's a very good sign.

Agreed on both points. I did pretty well on the SAT Writing section, and got a 61 on the CC Clep. Main thing with this test is practice writing well-developed 5 paragraph essays.

No problem
Yes, the Petersons PTs have topics for both the essays. It's nice because it was hard to find topics for the source-based essay, other than the ones they provide.

To sign up for the free Peterson's PT, it says you have to be either a service member yourself or a family member of one. Does that mean someone in the immediate family, or can it be a grandfather or an uncle? I've never been sure so I haven't signed up yet.

I signed up using my uncle's military information, which I have heard is acceptable. I have a lot of military people in my family - both of my grandfathers, uncles, aunt, etc. So yes, you can use an extended family member to use the free practice tests.
On another note, the free Peterson's practice tests for College Composition were extremely accurate to the real thing! They were the only PTs I used. I posted my thoughts on this CLEP at the bottom of this post. --->

I went to take the exam last year and was totally confident in my abilities.I had AP English back in high school, it was my favorite subject. I found the test extremely hard and tricky. I passed by one point. There are two essays to do at the end of the test and the time is not enough in my opinion to come up with arguments and support for the topic. I couldn't complete some of the questions. Best of Luck.
