Hi guys, I am an RN and have been for 10 plus years. I am going back for my BSN. I need general ed credits, like 12 of them!! I scheduled My clep exam for Bio August 11th!!!! I thought I would know most of Bio since I took A and P, micro and advanced bio. I was surprised at how little I know. I got the REA book and the flashcards. I just took the peterson test # 2 and got a 52!
.....Should I re-schedule? How well does the peterson test compare to the real exam.. Honestly I just want to pass the CLEP. I really dont care about the score as it does not transfer into a grade for me just credits. PLEASE give advice!!!! Also anyone take Educational psych? thanks Vick

I took and passed Bio. For me, it was a tough exam. I have always made it a point to use every resource possible. REA was a great resource however what put me on the winning side was Standard Deviants videos. If you can't find them at your library, try Netflicks.
Best wishes.

YEAH I got those~ I actually ordered them a week ago, as I read a post of your before. Did you take the peterson ( it was the second exam, I guess the first was easiest and the 3rd is the hardest?) I took the middle one the second. Just wondering how good of a gage it is compared to the the real one?? did you by any chance take CLEP educational psych???

Sorry Cazz, I didn't take the peterson for this one and Ed Psych wasn't on my agenda. Sorry I can't be of further help. The videos are dorky as hell but really made the difference for me. Sounds like your preparing well using a number of sources.
Again, best of luck to you.

I got 45 and 49 on the first peterson test. Then I studied one more week by using AP biology book, 10 hours a day and I passed with 68. You still have time and please make sure you check the feedback, they are very very helpful.

Never retake the same test, it'll skew your results into an artificially high range. You can take 3 of them, so hold back a little bit and study more. If you can get into the high 60's/low 70's by the third exam, you'll be all set.
*just thinking out loud here, but if you already took AP 1 and 2, is it possible that you already have Intro to Biology credit? If so, this exam is going to duplicate that credit (not count.) Just worth asking.

I did take the Natural Science CLEP which is ~50% bio. I found the Peterson's were kind of hard and discouraging, but I did pass the real thing. I used the new REA book it was good.
I also took the the Educational Psych exam. It was not to difficult it was really good to have lots of general Psych background. I also used the REA book for this one. I strongly suggest you check out the specific exam feedback for both of these exams it is worth the investment if you don't already belong to IC.
