Can anyone give advice on actual classes at TESU? I'm thinking since I need 21 more hours there for residency that I could just take some classes instead of going full TECEP to actually help get a grade in some courses to help with the possibility of Graduate School. Does anyone have any insight especially in Business classes or a speech class seeing as how I need that also still for my CCAF. Any insight would be appreciated.

That's the only way you can meet the new residency rules. Residency has changed to 16 hours, but you can't use TECEPs or PLAs to meet it anymore. If you took any TECEPs or PLAs before or are taking them in or before the May term, and haven't let your enrollment lapse, then they still count towards the new reduced requirement. Also, there's now an option to pay a $2000 residency waiver fee if you don't want to take that many courses.
The gory details are in several threads around here.
To actually answer your question, I took a handful of classes and found them very manageable, but no business courses.

So the classes you actually took were manageable? What exactly did you take? GIngerbeef might be who I need to message as it appears they took some of the actual CIS classes through TESU back in the day from digging through the forum here.
And I'm under the MDCP and the TECEP test still count. However, I need some CIS classes that I plan to take through them. I figure since I still need those classes why not take them through them and let them count towards the residency. 18 AOS classes along with the Marriage and Family and the Applied Math TECEP and I'm good to go.

My recommendation is to research your grad schools you want to attend. If they require a GPA or not, most competency based degrees will not have that requirement. If you just need a GPA to graduate from TESU, take the cornerstone at $300 and 1 credit, pay the residency waiver, and you can take the courses elsewhere for cheaper/faster completion times.

I took all the classes for my major- social sciences, and also Intro to Biology (no lab). I wanted graded credits and academic writing practice for grad school.
The social sciences were 200,300,400 level- all completely manageable. Weekly reading and discussion posts. You need to be a good independent learner, there won't be any lectures or one on one with your mentor (notice they are not professors). Do the work as assigned and you'll be fine. Tests/quizzes/writing varies with each class, but I *think* you can still preview the syllabus before you sign up. If that's the case, you may want to look each class up in advance to see what the exact requirements are (even though it will say it may vary from mentor to mentor, they're pretty much just following what TESU has already put together)
EDIT to add: I'm sure that the bio has to be different by now, but when I took it, they shipped me a box of VHS tapes. hilarious I had to go to the Goodwill and buy a player. I used it to dip my toe in the biology water before taking the actual general bio w/lab classes. But, my impression of that specific class was awful. I also remember answering all the chapter questions each week- which was kind of highschoolish.

I couldn't test out of Logistics and Total Quality Management and took them at the same time. It was manageable. A few days before the semester all the coursework is in the system so you can work on it faster than its actually due.

Dina, how was Total Quality Management class? I am in the field of Quality Management for manufacturing operations and have been doing it for 20+ years. I would love to consider that one if it's not too time consuming. Also, what's a length of an actual class? 4 weeks?

Your experience will vary greatly with the quality of the mentor administering it. I went to ratemprofessor.com and sought out quality mentors. My spouse has taken several courses with them and its been hit or miss, again mostly due to the quality of the mentor. She seeks the easy A, I sought a challenge. I am glad with my choices as I was able to parlay a few into letters of recommendation.
With that said, the courses were a walk in the park compared to the sheer rigor of the current courses in my MBA.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.
Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.
Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.
Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.
Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Yes, the mentor makes a big difference. Also take the online classes rather than guided study. The blog posts are pretty much free points. They never took more than about 20 minutes to write, often less, and the responses can pretty much be done off the cuff. They are usually graded on a participation basis.
