"Better Uses" is subjective....
But there are numerous other figures, not only pagan, that have many similarities to Jesus....all of whom pre-date Jesus:
For example, Attice (Greek), Mithras (Persia), and Dyonysos (Greek) all celebrate their birthday on December 25, were all born of a virgin, And were all resurrected after their death.

Wasn't Mithras born as an adult from a rock? I remember reading a good article by a non-Christian debunking all of the comparisons to Jesus.

True, add Osiris to the list as well, but there are very notable differences for each compared to Christian doctrine.
