Hi,
Anybody know of a good web site that sells used books for really cheap? I like reading and I like owning my books, ie not having to return or renew them every three weeks. I'm figuring that there has got to be a site where I can buy used books for really cheap.
Thank you!

Sometimes you can find really good deals on ebay, craigslist, or amazon.

I just purchased the following new books on Amazon:
Barron's Human Resourse - $1.50
Barron's Finance - $5.00
Barron's Financial Management - $1.51
Not bad for $8.01! :coolgleam:

Also visiting used bookstores occasionally pays dividends. The savings on shipping is the primary advantage to that approach. The disadvantage is that they generally won't have what you're looking for.

crrrraaaiiiigslisssst [: Amazon can be decent, too.
And ITA with Ruddigore, used bookstores rock. I just recently discovered a giant used bookstore about 30 min. away from me, and I would be happy to LIVE there. The books are usually from $2-$4 & some of them are really cute vintage-y ones too [:

I like this website for comparing book costs. Sometimes hardcover are less expensive than paperback.
Best Web Buys price comparison shopping
You could also trade books at:
Trade Books for Free with our Online Book Swap `PaperBackSwap.com
Welcome to Bookins - Home
They do not have a lot of books for school, but both sites are growing.
Warning: This is fun and highly addictive!

Check with your library. Ours has a section where books are for sale, and frequently I find textbooks there. I picked up a college-level business math book for $1 this week and then came home and saw that the same edition sells new for over $100 and used for over $40.
And it's not just textbooks, they sell fiction/non-fiction paperbacks for 50 cents and hardbacks for $1, if that's what you're looking for.
Which..... of course doesn't answer your question about *websites* but I wanted to mention it. It seems to be getting less and less common/easy to do so, but I, too, have found some great deals on eBay. My son's Western Civ 1 & 2 textbooks came new, wrapped in plastic, and with accompanying CDs & website login codes and we got them both, with shipping, for under $10. (They were being sold off cheaply because they were previous editions that had never sold.)

Thanks for all the responses! I will definitely be taking a look at the recommended sites, as well as try looking at local stores & libraries.
Thank you!
