Does anyone know of a cheap Math or Statistics Master's degree online?
I'm planning on doing a Stats or Applied Econ degree after my MBA (or rather, forced to because of the work I'll be doing) so I've done all the research on this. It depends on your definition of "cheap"... for me, that means < $25k at the Master's level. There's a lot more quality Stats programs than Applied Math programs out there, at least according to my research. Iowa State, Texas A&M and NC State all have ranked Stats departments and offer online MS programs that fit the bill.
Applied Math: Houston - ~$800/cr West Florida - ~$475/cr (MS in Math with an Applied Math/Stats track) Emporia State - ~$425/cr Stats: Iowa State - ~$450/cr (Great Stats department, AAU school and online students get in-state tuition - tremendous "bang for the buck") Texas A&M - ~$675/cr NC State - ~$775/cr (Launching in Fall 2015, I think) Idaho - ~$701/cr I'm fortunate to be in a situation where cost isn't really a factor, so I haven't kept track of any bottom feeder programs that may be out there - you may find something cheaper, if price is your only decision factor. There seems to be more cheap Applied Stats/Ops Research programs than Stats programs out there, partly because Applied Stats programs are almost always 30cr and Stats programs usually require some sort of capstone/thesis module that adds a few credits. EDIT: I should note that these are all out-of-state tuition rates. Some programs, including the University of Houston's MS Applied Math, are significantly cheaper for in-state students.
