Charter Oak PSA (Public Safety) Courses
#1
Hello,

I'm currently working on a BS at COSC with a PSA concentration. I'm finishing up my gen. ed. and other requirements and will taking my first 2 PSA courses this month. Can anyone offer any insight or helpful hints with the PSA courses? Did you like them? What is the level of difficulty and committment? Like I mentioned, I decided to take 2 five week courses for this first term as the classes are "counteracting terrorism" and "America's homeland security". I also have some understanding of these types of courses as I am a paramedic and police officer. I'm just dreading the classes like research methodology and cultural diversity in PSA . . . any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would take a good look at the courses and see if they are offered elsewhere cheaper/easier. For example any cultural diversity course might be acceptable (might not). Look around and see what you can find. Remember the beauty of the Big 3 is that they accept the credit from just about anywhere. My favorite places to earn credit beyond testing are as follows:

Western New Mexico University (around $450 per 3 credit class)
Eastern New Mexico University (Around $450 per 3 credit class)
Colorado State University Pueblo (470/3cr), these are self paced and you can sign up and start any time.
Brigham Young univ. ($479/3cr), again self paced start anytime
University of Arkansas ($330/3cr), mostly LL, but great price and format.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.
