For those of you who have been here awhile and seen the changes happen, how significant are they usually?
I had intended on applying this month and enrolling in the MT TECEP, but some medical stuff came up with my mom and funds are tighter than expected since I helped pay for some of that.
So I am questioning how big of a deal is it that I get it done this month.
If I apply, but don't enroll, that doesn't secure the catalog, right? I have to enroll to lock that in if I am understanding correctly.
Have the changes in the past really been that huge?

The changes in the past have sometimes been significant (eg. SOC110). BUT - usually there's some sort of advance warning or rumours that give people on this board a heads up.
No guarantees, but so far there's been nothing predicted for Jan 2021 that would inspire fear. If you can get the TECEP sorted, do. But don't beat yourself up if the funds really aren't there right now.
Even when the cornerstone became a compulsory 3-credit, 1500USD course, TESU also introduced the flat-fee for 16 credits, which meant that the fears about the huge cost of SOC110 + capstone + residency waiver were mostly ameliorated by simply taking 16 credits at TESU.

Catalog changes are usually relatively minor ones. Except when they're big and there are rumors ahead of time, as already noted. But one never knows. Of course, if you just don't have the funds, I wouldn't sweat it. Applying DOES lock in the catalog for a year. But if that $50 is too much right now, I wouldn't worry about it.

Catalog changes happen on July 1; other policy changes happen on both July 1 and Jan 1, so there might be something where if you're enrolled and they're putting a policy in place, you're given notice and a date when the change will happen - and if you're not enrolled, you're screwed. I would enroll if you can, just to be an enrolled student if any changes take place. But it's not critical.
