Can you look over my roadmap please? TESC Liberal Arts

I set this up for a BA in Liberal Studies at TESC. TRCC is my B&M school. Checked boxes are completed classes/tests.

They say the capstone is strongly recommended, so I didn't include it, but if it is now a requirement, can you please let me know where it would fall?

Also, I took Art Appreciation (ART101) at a B&M school. Can I still test out with Art of the Western World (166), or do you think it overlaps?

For the last line, do you recommend Intro to Sociology or Race to Save the Planet?

Did I set up the Gen Ed and Free Electives correctly? I am not sure if all my Gen Eds are correct. Maybe some are free electives?

And last question, should I send my plan for evaluation at TESC before I implement this?

Any advice, comments greatly appreciated. Subjects marked with an * are completed. It's a numbers file, so I don't think I can attach it. If anyone wants, I can email it? Thanks for looking!

I will type this all out again since my in-laws computer likes to crash at horrible times.........

1) I see you only showing 9 Math/Sci credits BUT you only counted the Math CLEP as 3 credits. That is a 6 credit test giving you the full 12 credits.

2) I see that there appear to be 3 Social Science credits missing. If you take the Social Sciences & History CLEP (6 credits) you will gain those 3 credits and have 3 more to spare, nullifying the need to take Sociology or Environment & Humanity! This is a pretty easy test that shares much overlap with the tests in your general ed electives breakdown.

3) Heres to Your Health does not count as any form of general ed at TESC so you can scratch that one. I recommend taking Analyzing and Interpreting Literature instead. It should not overlap your American Lit courses and will give you 6 EASY (I mean EASY) Humanities credits that will substitute for both Heres to your Health and Art of the Western World. BONUS: If it turns out that the Art test won't duplicate your existing art credit then you will be three credits ahead and can eliminate another general ed test!

3a) OR use the A&I Lit test mentioned above to substitue for the English Lit test in your major requirements. A&I Lit is a lot easier, unless you are already very familiar with English Literature, and counts as 200 level credit at TESC.

3b) Have I mentioned that A&I Lit is easy?

4) Technical writing is another gimmie test that will grant 3 humanities credits. You can use that one instead of one of the more difficult history tests if you are so inclined.

5) Money & Banking is considered pretty difficult. Have you considered taking ECE World Population instead? That is regarded as one of the easier upper level exams.

6) Sociology and Environment are both considered easier exams. I believe sociology would still be a bit easier though I passed that one with just a few hours of IC cards.

Wow, thanks for taking the time to look that all over and give such great advice. It did bring up a few questions.

1. I see the missing 3 Social Sciences. If I take the Social Sciences and History CLEP, can I plug 3 credits into Social Sciences, and plug the other 3 credits into Free Electives?

2. I am almost done studying for Astronomy and math is my true weakness, so I think I will do ALEKS for the 3 credits? I actually placed so low at community college that I had to take 2 developmental math classes to even get to where I could take a college math course. AND I went to tutoring twice a week on top of that. So, I just don't feel able to pass a 6 credit math CLEP.

3.I have 9 credits instead of 12 under Humanities, so I put Technical Writing there. So much for replacing a hard History. Does it fit better somewhere else?

4. Looking at the revised plan, are there any tests that are easier than what I have that I could replace with? (I'd really like to NOT do Rise and Fall of Soviet Union or Vietnam War if at all possible) :hudder::

Everything you said is great. Forgive me for not reading the forum entirely, but my two pennies:

I took A&I Lit, English lit, and now American Lit. There's overlap in the ideas if you want to take them all back to back--it stinks to do so much literature but they're worth 6 credits a piece, and not TOO killer hard (like Money and Banking, eek!??)

So yeah.. especially if you did some lit in highschool, you end up reviewing it and doing a crash course on memorizing key ideas.

Hey dude - I know you don't wanna do the Vietnam War one because the comments on specific exam feedback make it sound really hard.

But with the new v2 version of the flashcards and the fact that it has an audio feature too - plus the sparknotes and some freebies on the forum - and plus i put a crappy study guide on there - its really not too bad anymore.

im a pretty terrible test taker - i test to pass - i spent a week on Vietnam and got a 64 (passing is 44).

i wouldn't totally discount taking that one if i was you's.
But yeah - definitely not Rise & Fall.

Yes Social Sciences & History, just like the other 6 credit exams, breaks into two courses on your transcript that you can fit as needed. That French CLEP is worth 6 credits if you score a 50 or 12 credits if you score a 63 so you may be able to use that Technical Writing to substitue a history after all.

Blu2blu, thanks for your input. I love literature, so I listen to classics on tape in the car, on my phone, etc, studying in the background so to speak, as I study for other things. I took Am Lit before I thought of that strategy, lol. I will save A&I and Eng Lit and do them back to back later as you suggest.

Kevin, thanks for the advice on Vietnam. I will use your "crappy" study guide when the time comes. ;-)
