Hey there folks,

Accredited Online Education | Online Degree Programs - California Coast University

Any feedback/input on this organization?
I am considering applying and yes, I do know they are NA. One time payment of $300-500 and then 100-125/month and coset-per-credit isn't bad. Go at your own pace. Books are not included but can be rented for a minimal fee. Open-book testing. The best part, not so dag-on heavy in math (accounting, marketing, etc) for a business related degree. I am not really interested in the financial end so much as the leadership/management/people side of things, so this is a relief. I'm already attending PF but my current payment plan will continue to build each semester rather than staying at the same monthly payment. PF has also proven to take their time at grading the proctored exams. So I am looking for this type of option and open for ideas.

Let's be honest, all I need is a tick in the box with something relevant to my current/future profession and some general learning. I want to learn stuff but not necessarily stuff that isn't of much interest or use in my profession and I don't want a terminal degree in safety/compliance (current professsion) but maybe some certs to accompany my degree.

I know some of you will have information, an opinion or possiby better options. So fire away.

I believe our esteemed moderator Shoto has at least 2 degrees from CCU...but my confidence level isn't 100%

If one is considering New Charter, then might as well pay a little extra for Patten University. They are owned by the same company and have the same model, but Patten is regionally accredited. Patten offers leadership programs.

As I understand it, new charter is no longer since they merged with their sister college, Patten. Although I would get a discounted tuition with Patten through my employer. This may sound a little cheesy but I am Sticking with open book and as far as I know, Patten doesn't do that. Sounds like I need to do a little research.
End goal: World Domination OR
Short term - AS Business Management (2nd Semester) & AAS Occupational Safety and Health (12 Safety credits needed)
Long Term - BS Psychology and if feeling ambitious MS Leadership or Organizational Industrial Psychology

Penn Foster:
Introduction to Business, Information Literacy, Introduction to Business, Principles of Management, Essentials of Psychology, Math for Business and Finance, Computer Applications, English Composition, Interpersonal Communication, (In Progress) Finn. Accounting, Art Appreciation, Marketing
Kaplan:
Documenting Your Experience for College Credit

FEMA:

New Charter no longer exists, you can sign up and test drive the site though, which gives you an idea of how Patten works for quite a lot of subjects.

Have you thought of earning some credits by other means first and applying them to a degree later?
Have you already got some ACE credits from you PF courses?

Edit: just had a look at CCU, I didn't know it was self-paced, but $150 per unit. Bachelors is 126 units so $18900

Why not use Aleks, Straighterline, Saylor, and TECEPS with TESC and you will probably be done in less time, for 1/4 of the cost, majority will be open book, and you will get a RA degree.
Aleks: Beginning, Intermediate, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Intro to Statistics
Straighterline: Cultural Anthropology, Religion, Biology, Environmental Science, Philosophy, Eng Comp I, C++.
Working on - Eng Comp II, Intro Comm
Sophia Intro to Psych
TEEX: CYB101, CYB201, CYB301
NFA: Q318, Q118, Q137
Kaplan: Documenting Experiences

Goal: Complete Gen Ed. requirements.
