Calculus II
#1
Hi,

I know that Calculus II is a very rare course for many on here to take, but was just wondering if someone could help me find an online or distance learning course for Calculus II. I was planning on taking this through LSU, but really dislike the professor after having him for Calc I. Does anyone know of any colleges/universities that might offer Calc II for online/distance learning? Thanks!

I know others will offer some good suggestions, but I think I can point to two of the more user friendly courses here
Combined They have a Calc II lite and a regular Calc II

If you are enrolled in a college that accepts ACE credit like TESC or Excelsior, then Graduate School - Course Details

USDA Grad School is not a regular RA college, so only the ACE credit route will work.

UND has one here College Credit Courses | Online & Distance Education, UND
I just conversed with a UND professor recently about a Discrete Math course (for my son) I asked about format, attrition rate, pass rate, etc....and received the most comprehensive explanation imaginable, He even sent the entire course in PDF format so we could see exactly what it entailed. I encourage you to do the same (feel out the prof) so that you don't end up with another dud.

Ohio University does, but they are on the quarter system.

An out of the box solution could be to purchase Thinkwell Calculus, which covers Calc I and II, and then take the Calculus BC AP Exam. You do NOT need to be a high school student to take the AP. However, AP is only offered once a year, and the "contact deadline" is March 15.

USDA Graduate School has a number of courses listed with ACE; many of these courses are of the distance-learning variety.

For each of these courses, the syllabus has a 'FINAL EXAMINATION'. Is this a classroom-based exam which requires attendance or the provision of a proctor?

If not, Calculus II would be awesome to pick up for 2 credits as it would balance out the dangling 4 credits that UEXCEL gives for their Calculus exam.

There are two Calc II offerings. The paper based distance learning one requires a proctor in your area. My son may be taking Calc II from them to pad his degree. I'll let you know if he does. USDA offers the Calc I and Calc II for their Meteorology certificate program.

OK, very good news...my son received his Calc II course material from USDA Graduate School (ACE approved). The format is student friendly, self paced print format. 10-11 chapter modules, with chapter end homework assignments composed of 10 questions each. The open book chapter assignments constitute 75% of your grade. Proctored final exam is open book, open notes. The overall grade needed to pass is 70%. Cost $295. Credits 2. Book required (bought his used for $8.00). The book is easy to follow. Make no mistake Calc II is not easy, but the USDA Grad School format for this course is a winner.

USDA Grad School Calc I is Differential Calculus
and Calc II is Intregal Calculus

The Calc courses are part of the Meterology certificate offered by the USDA Grad School, thus the 2 credits instead of 4. If you do a google search you will find that a few MBA programs recommend the USDA Grad School Calc classes as an affordable pre-req alternative.

For my son, it fits the bill perfectly. It covers TESC and more importantly it covers the federal government requirement for Computer Scientists. They don't care whether it is 2 or 5 credits, only that you took both Differential and Intregal Calculus.

Panther what happened with Composition I? You smoked the other courses. Was the format difficult or did this one just get away?
