Calculator for Aleks math courses? what do I need
#1
I am going to take ALEKS Beginning Algebra and Intermediate Algebra. Do I need a specific kind of calculator for these courses? Do I need one that does special functions etc ? or is just a basic calculator ok. Don't want to buy one that is overkill. Thanks!

ALEKS provides a calculator (though it grays out the button that starts it when ALEKS thinks you should be working by hand).

If you want a calculator that you can touch and use when working outside ALEKS (which I recommend: working some outside ALEKS should reinforce learning and ultimately be faster than not doing so), the TI-30X is inexpensive and not overkill.

In certain parts of the lessons, they'll actually provide you with an onscreen calculator.

One of the big things that I've noticed with ALEKs is that they'll often request the answer in a format that is in fractions instead of decimal on different lesson areas, so a regular calcuator is often about useless. In a pinch, I just used the calculator that was built into Windows.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

We used Mathways in our home for Aleks.
