Caculator or not?!
#1
The rep. at the test center where I am to take the accounting exam said a calculator will come up on screen when needed during test. Past posts on here suggest otherwise. Is there a calculator in the software or not? I am leaning more on my understanding than computations but would just like this cleared up. Thank youWink

No calculator popped up on my screen. I brought my own. Check the Collegeboard website. I believe they allow you to bring your own calculator.

On base here, they allow you to bring you're own. The best course of action is for you to contact your testing center and ask them if it is forbidden to bring a calculator into the testing room. All of our feedback doesn't mean squat if they are making their own rules. Good luck on the test and be sure to let us know how it went; your feedback will help others! Lee

The tutorial showed me how to use the calculator application on the Principles of accounting CLEP. But during the test, I couldn't find it and it was never offered. I skipped those questions and came back to them later to make an educated guess.

hopefully you can bring your own calculator.

The usage of calculators is not permitted on Principles of Accounting, and obviously using one can result in the score being canceled:

"Thank you for contacting CLEP.

Unfortunately students are not permitted to use a calculator during the Principles of Accounting exam.

We hope this information is helpful. If you write to us again, please include all previous messages.

Sincerely,

Maybe this is because it is the computerized version, we are still in the dark ages over here and using the fill in the bubble versions....

The version wasn't specified, so the answer logically applies to both exams. Others on the forum previously have stated calculators are not allowed. I am 100% certain calculators are not allowed, but you can contact CLEP at (800) 257-9558 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., ET, Monday-Friday to verify.

To be honest, the testing center I go to, has basic calculators all over the place, at every workstation; for ACCUPLACER, I guess. They really should clear those up at testing time, or hand them out on an allowed to use basis.
