I don't know about their requirements -- sorry! As for the two DANTE tests, hhhmm... I haven't had to take either or those, but DANTE tests are usually very doable. Why not just pick the subject that interests you the most?
Best wishes!

I took the History of the Veitnam War DSST last summer and passed, do not remember score though. All I studied was History Channel DVDs on the Vietnam War. You need to know both the French-Vietnamese War and the American (Police Action) Vietnamese War. Know the main generals on both sides. But all I studied was those films and I can only imagine if I have known about IC, I probably would have scored even better.

Hi Dini,
I would recommend Vietnam over Modern Middle East. I passed both exams, and both were very challenging. However, I felt that Modern Middle East was more difficult to study for, and to pass than the Vietnam exam.
Here is the feedback I posted after I took the Vietnam exam:
Snazzlefrag's feedback on DSST - History of the Vietnam War.

Also, I replied to your PM regarding my study notes, but you didn't get back to me. If you PM me your email address, I will gladly send them to you.
Hope that helps,
Snazzlefrag
My name is Rob

I don't know about SUNY requirements but Excelsior counts Vietnam as American History since the exam is written from a US perspective. You might check with SUNY to see how they count it before you take it. Vietnam was the easier or the two for me.
The feedback from Snazz is right on target.
