I've just had official written confirmation that CSU Global's Undergraduate certificates can be completely tested out of using their CBEs.
'you can CBE for as many classes in a cert as you want to. There is
no limit. Here is the full answer: " The student can take as many CBEs
to complete the Certificate for Foundations of Accounting. As long as she
is enrolled solely in the Certificate, not as a Degree-Seeking student.â'
Thought this might be of use to some people. They have quite a good range of them

This is pretty awesome in my opinion. I can imagine knocking out Gen eds (30 ish) and electives (easy exams or FEMA if it applies) then earning a cert from CSU for the bulk of Upper Level work.
One woulf then have say a BS/BA from Charter Oak and an undergrad cert from Colorado State...I like the sound of that! And if the cert meets requirements for something like accounting all the better!

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

This initially piqued my interest, but it looks like the only certificates you can complete there entirely by CBE aren't of much use to me.
Human Resources and Organizational Development
Healthcare Management
Foundations of Accounting
Everything else (as far as I could see, I might have overlooked something) required at least one course not available as a CSU-Global CBE.
Still a pretty cool option for some, I'm sure!

Its also great for someone who is switching fields or has been unemployed longterm, as an inexpensive way to show the person is willing to stick to a program until completion.

For several of the certs, you only need 1 additional online class, which might be worth it for some:
Organizational Leadership
Strategic Communications
Criminology
I'm interested in getting a Project Management Cert, I hope they add a few more CBE's to the list!

Pardon my ignorance,
What value is a certificate such as this to potential employers? Surely something like this isn't competitive with a degree? And, I'm betting it probably can't be used in lieu of when a job posting requires a degree.
Or, does it? "...or an equivalent combination of education and experience"
hm
Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies Thomas Edison State University 2018
Cert in Emergency Management - Three Rivers CC 2017
Cert in Basic Police Ed - Walters State CC 1996
Current Goal: new job
Working on: securing funding I don't have to pay back for a Masters.
Up Next: Toying with Masters Programs
Finished: First Degree
Older Experience with: PLA / Portfolios, RPNow, Proctor U, ACE, NCCRS, DAVAR Academy (formerly Tor), Straighterline, TESU, Ed4Credit, Study.com, The Institutes, Kaplan, ALEKS, FEMA IS, NFA IS, brick & mortar community colleges, LOTS of vocational schools...

I've seen job openings where a project management cert would be helpful in meeting the minimum requirements on top of the required BA/BS. It's like a specialty added to your BS Business Admin or BA CS degree. The cybersecurity cert might be useful in the same way, but most employers are looking for specific types of security certifications like the CISSP and not this kind of cert.
Otherwise, I agree the value of these certificates is dubious. And I think it's a time and money waster.

Our real appreciation for these is that they provide upper level credit applicable to a degree at one of the big three for a very reasonable price. It's also kinda cool to add "Colorado State university" to a resume as a line right under that BS or BA. I actually posted a link on these for you in the other thread as they have quite a bit of CJ courses as well as management and an Emergency Management course.
