Is COSC a brick 'n mortar institution as well as online, or online only? If anyone could provide a brief oveview of their history I would appreciate it. Thanks...

About Charter Oak State College
In brief, Charter Oak State College is the Connecticut equivalent of Thomas Edison State College and Excelsior College - a state-run institution created for adult distance learners. (EC is no longer part of the NY state system, but COSC and TESC are still state-run)
Like EC and TESC, COSC is a zero-residency, regionally-accredited distance school which accepts a wide variety of transfer credits and offers its own online courses. Like TESC, it has lower tuition rates for in-state residents. Like EC, COSC grants credits for GRE subject exams (40th percentile or higher gets you either 18 or 24 credits, depending on the subject). Unlike both EC and TESC, COSC offers concentrations rather than majors.
Judging by the comments in this forum, COSC has
outstanding customer service.
You don't hear a lot about COSC, not even on this forum. They need better marketing! 5671 graduates were celebrated at EC's 2009 Commencement; for COSC's 2009 Commencement, 482 graduates were eligible to walk the stage.

BSLS Excelsior College, conferred 9-09
started MS in Instructional Design program, Spring 2010
April 4 2009 through July 6 2009: 1 GRE subject exam + 1 Penn Foster credit + 11 DANTES exams = 61 credits. Average per-credit cost = $23.44.

Thanks for the info... I just applied with COSC and we'll see how it goes. I am impressed with their responsiveness and customer service. Beats waiting on hold for 45 minutes to speak with an EC advisor (who are, however, knowledgeable and helpful) that's for sure...

COSC requires a 3 credit mandatory resident course
Excelsior requires a 1 credit mandatory resident course (but you can take it at penn foster for $80 bucks and transfer it in.
Thomas Edison doesn't require any resident course
