COSC and Straighrtline ?
#1
COSC was one of the original SL partners and as FHSU does with some SL classes, COSC transcripted them, however the cost was high if you were not an enrolled student. Nowadays COSC accept almost all SL classes. Do they still transcript them as there own?

Certification (ACA) University of Central Florida
B.A. (Social Sciences) Thomas Edison State University

I'm also wondering how Straighterline courses are transcribed onto a COSC transcript. Does the transcript make it appear as if you took the course at COSC, or does it clearly indicate that it is transfer credit from Straighterline?
• Master of Science in Nursing - Eastern New Mexico University (in progress)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Western Governors University (3/2015)
• Associate of Science in Nursing - Platt College (3/2010)

• Professional licensure: LPN/LVN (1/2006); RN (5/2010)
• 16 brick & mortar credits from Oxnard College (2000 to 2001)
• 38 brick & mortar credits from Tarrant County College (2006 to 2008)

I have a question about transfering the straighterline credits thru COSC to another college... does the other college accept it as credit? especially since COSC tells its straighterline..

Are you a student at COSC or were you just looking to transfer credits through them? If you're not a student, COSC is not the cheapest way to do it.

To be honest, I'm not sure what will happen. I know that since COSC accepts credits directly through SL, they don't accept SL credits through FHSU or some other college. I am considering applying for grad school in a few months and wonder what will happen. I don't know yet but will post as soon as I find out.

SL may be able to answer more of your questions if no one else here knows the answers. Not too many of us COSC students here Smile

No, I am not a student of COSC yet, i was thinking of getting my AA there, because it (i think) can be done by this summer. But I also want to send it to Indiana State U, and maybe use it for my daughter to transfer to the local CC.

I have to say at first glance its great, but if you need a transfer, its only 15 credits in business. I spoke to FT Hays yesterday they put the classes on their
transcript, but they code it with straighterliner as a class code. They said to the outside, it doesn't mean anything.

I think Straighterline needs to line up more colleges like FT hayes I just have a feeling because its sooo new the bottom will drop... I guess the ACE transcript is the safety net. I am just not sure what to do....

I've also looked at their AA and it does seem like a pretty good deal.

I don't know if this helps, but there were several reasons I chose COSC. To be very honest, the main reason was because I was SCARED of this whole CLEP thing. Now it's old hat and I'm completely comfortable with it, but when I first started out, I only knew about this concept because my younger brother graduated from COSC not too long after he finished high school. He found bain4weeks.com, which is how he heard about testing, but chose COSC because of the lower math requirements for a business concentration. I have to say that the math concern is huge for me too, but it was nice choosing a school that that I already knew about, and I also liked the fact that it is a state college. (so when someone says "what is COSC?" I can respond with "Oh, it's just a small state college back east!")

One other factor is cost. COSC is less expensive up-front than TESC. EC is also not as expensive as TESC, but of course both COSC and EC will require some sort of cornerstone and/or capstone class which will add to overall price, but with payment plans (TESC doesn't have those), it makes it much more manageable for someone like myself who is paying out-of-pocket.

Mostly COSC was just something I felt comfortable with, but I've really liked it so far. There are just so many factors that go into choosing a college! I'm happy to answer any other questions about COSC that I can! Smile
