TESC: BS in Homeland Security Plan....HELP NEEDED
#1
Hello Wonderful People,

Below is my unofficial evaluation from TESC. As it stands I have 68 credits, which mean I need 52 in order to reach the 120 credits needed to recieve the BS. in Homeland Security. Due to my locale, a non-CLEP country, I'm unable to "test out", so I'm looking to use as many SL credits as possible. I want to enroll at TESC with as many credits as possible and I'd like to receive my BS in the summer of 2013. Courses in italics are completed. Bold courses need to be taken. The blank spaces are where I need to you guys to help me. I also listed a few courses from SL I'd like to take.

[SUP]Homeland Security Degree Plan[/SUP]

A. 6 English Credits – SL English 1 & 2

B. 12 Humanities Credits - Critical Thinking +SL Business Comm. + _______________+_____________

C. 12 Social Science – Cultural Diversity + SL US History I + SL Intro to Sociology + SL Intro to Psychology

D. 12 Science/Math – SL Business Stats + SL Biology +________________ + ___________________

E. 18 General Ed. Electives – SL Criminal Justice + SL Western Civ. + SL MicroEc + SL MacroEc + ¬¬¬¬-______________+________________

F. 15 Area of Study Electives – ALL FEMAs COMPLETED

G. 27 Free Electives 10 FEMAS +5 FEMAs COMPL. + SL Mgr. Acct. + SL Acct 1 + SL Acct. 2 + Personal Finance

H. 18 Area of Study Requirements – THROUGH TESC

SL Courses I’m Comfortable w/ Taken:

Chemistry, Anatomy I, Anatomy II, Pre-Calculus, Intro to Business, Intro to Nutrition

Where would these courses fit? Also, if someone could post the TESC credit equivalency chart, it would be great. Not the chart on Straighterline's site, rather the chart from TESC or something as comprehensive.

Thanx in advance.

You could add SL College Algebra I think...in fact what about ALEKS?

in ALEKS you could take (I think) Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Statistics, Calculus, (and I think Business Statistics) I hate to send someone to ALEKS Purgatory...but I think it would complete items D and E

For item D also consider SL Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2

There is always the independent studies options at LSU, University of Idaho, and University of Arkansas for around $100/credit

Good Luck
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Thanx for the input. Cheers to you both.

I've decided to use Penn Foster's Art Appreciation and Music Appreciation for the HUmanities credits. I'm also looking into Penn Foster's Terrorism course. The remaining courses will be fleshed out with Straighterline. If all goes as planned I'll enter TESC with 100 credits and only the dreaded Study Requirements and Capstone to complete(20 credits).
