gingerbeefE sent me this in a private message, but I figured I'd answer it inside the thread so anybody in the future looking for these answers will have a chance at finding them.
gingerbeefE Wrote:Hello, random question have you taken C programming at TESC? I'm trying to get a little feedback because it is 1 of the 2 classes that will determine my GPA at TESC. Did you get an A? instructor rough? any feed back?
Yes I did take it, but I had been programming for about 3 years when I took the course, so if you're coming at it fresh you'll probably have a different experience than I did.
Yes, I got an A.
I think there should be multiple instructors, but Aline Yurik is an amazing instructor. She's nice, helpful, and will do her best to work with you. I actually took 3 classes with her because shes such a good instructor.
This course is pretty much TESC's Intro to Programming course, it is designed for students with no prior knowledge of programming, so if you've never programmed before then this will be a decent place to start. I found all of the assignments to be relatively straight forward though I've been programming for a while.
The class won't have any video lectures, so if you need those check out Derek Banas's C Programming tutorial
here. If this is your first language I highly recommend watching his videos, he is a great teacher. The first video is just how to install your programming environment, but the next video gets into the C Programming language. If you don't like his teaching style you may check out TheNewBoston's C Programming tutorial
here.
I hope that helps, if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
I'm a 19 year old, Software Engineer, who is enrolled at TESC for a B.A. in Computer Science. My bachelors coursework is completed and I am waiting for graduation to roll around. Will start pursuing ALM in Information Technology with a concentration in Software Engineering from Harvard Extension School sometime in the coming year.
