Does anyone know if I have to register before going for a dsst test, like it has to be done before going to testing center for the clep? I already scheduled with the testing center.

DSST tests are designed so that the proctor at the test site has to register you. Schedule a test then just show up with the payment and ID required.

If you are taking your very first DSST exam, you will basically create a DSST registration page where you assign yourself a username and password for logging in each time you take a DSST exam (doesn't matter which DSST test center you are at). You will also provide the usual contact information, plus your birth date and social security number. The test center should always tell you their test center number in case you move around to different test centers. If you need your official score to be sent to a specific college or university you will need to enter their 4-digit DSST code.

You will progress through a series of screens and end up selecting the test you are planning to take at which point the proctor needs to log in. You will then be asked to provide credit card information to pay the $80 test fee.

The nice thing about the DSST testing system is that the candidates can always log in and review their previous scores, print out receipts (for those who need them for tax purposes or for reimbursement as an example), make any corrections/updates to their registration page, provide feedback to DSST, etc.

You can set up your registration at the test center or at home. Here is the website: http://ibt.prometric.com/dsst

Go to the bottom of the page and click on first-time registration, make sure you select "DSST" for the program (not DSST Military, not DSST Practice Test). If you have created a registration to take DSST practice tests, the username must be completely different for the actual tests. You are always welcome to fill out as much as possible ahead of time. This registration screen will always be displayed to you whenever you appear at a DSST test center to take an exam (this will allow you to change the test center number if you are at different test centers, plus allow you to make any contact info changes/updates).
