Hey everyone,
I was wondering what CLEP tests anyone has passed using only Instant Cert (preferably on a subject they didn't know tons about beforehand)? I'm looking to knock out some college credit through CLEP, but I'd rather not spend an entire semester studying for each test.

Personally, none. (I'm risk-averse.) Others, though, have had
great success with IC alone.

I was aware of that thread, but since it includes multiple types of tests other than CLEP, I didn't want to dig through 11 pages of posts to find what I was looking for...
Either I'm lazy, or just want to make better use of my time...I'll hope it's the latter.

CLEP Marketing for me. I also did CLEP Management using only IC to review, but I already had taken several management related tests.
Usually I supplement IC with Google searches and Wikipedia when I run across a concept I need clarification for. IC makes a good guide for study for most tests, even if the flash cards themselves aren't the best learning material.
Edit: Also, do some digging; don't be lazy.

Part of IC's awesomesauce is the ability to search both at the forum and the thread level. To do the latter, go to the relevant thread you've found by using the robust forum-level search, then mouse over "search this thread" to reveal a box where you can simply type in your search string. Hit go, and, in the case of the too-long thread already mentioned, 11 pages are tidily whittled down to 22 results.

Even if you use more than InstantCert (which I recommend,
especially if you don't already know about the subject) you don't necessarily need an entire semester to study. My longest test so far (Macroeconomics, which I knew very little about going in) took less time than that.

Besides passing 7 CLEP's using IC only, I did want to mention that all but one were done with a week or less of studying. Financial Accounting took 2 weeks. I say this just in case you are the highly motivated type that is interested in getting your CLEP's done quickly. IC covers enough material to pass. If you want to spend a month going to ten different sources, that is certainly an option. If you are time limited and want to get through it, then IC will do the trick for many, many of the subjects. If you are traveling from Chicago to Orlando then you could drive, take Amtrak, or fly. IC is like flying.
