CLEP and two forms of photo ID

I was only ever asked to show my driver's license, but in thinking about this for this thread, I usually always paid my test center fees with my debit card so they had another "card" with a name and signature. That said maybe they used that as their second ID. I would call CLEP and verify it and then ask them to call the test center director if they are mistaken. Before long they are going to be just like Pearson Vue - fingerprints, ID, Take your Picture, palm print, blood sample, first born...just kidding, but I have seen a ton of changes over the years of testings. I hope you are able to get this resolved, but after many test centers the one I liked the best was a 90 minute drive each way for me. I took a lot of exams there and just doubled up when I could to make the drive worthwhile, but I did it every week or every two weeks so I can relate to a long drive. On the plus side driving relaxes me so I was never really nervous by the time I got there. Good luck!

ROFL...I used to go to a test center that only required 1 ID. I've since moved away and now use another test center that requires 1 form of govt issued id and one picture id (i.e. student id). So it's really just individual test centers.

I know in California you can have both a driver's license and a state ID card, though they reference the same unique ID#/DL#. Because of this duplication, many testing programs will not accept both as 2 forms of ID if presented at the same time. But for CLEP exams, the other ID would be perfectly acceptable as a second ID as long as it is not expired.

I just went and took a CLEP at our testing center (in NC). They are requiring two ID's now, also. I used my driver's license and my SS card. (They said the SS card must be signed) I am glad they accept the SS card as a second form of indentification...I have a debit card with my picture/signature on it, but my 14-year-old sis only has her passport and SS card. It makes it hard for the "younger" ones taking tests...they don't have permits, licenses, or credit/debit cards!!!

TayTay, see my post from earlier in regards to younger ones wanting to test. I feel like there is a minimum age to get a state ID card, but that would be the route I would suggest as those cards are usually not that expensive to get and is counted as a primary ID.

I have to keep coming back to the fact that CLEP is the one who requires 2 IDs. If test centers are not enforcing that policy, that is their choice. Everyone should expect to be asked for a second ID. Just because you might pay for your admin fees with a credit or debit card does not mean a test center will accept that card as your second ID unless it is signed. I see many people come in without a signature on their bank card -- it is totally their choice! Just make sure you have something with your name printed on it, then either a photo or signature and you should be fine.

Virginia has stiffened its requirements for voter ID. The data, however, does not indicate that there has been voter fraud. It's curious that the government passes laws to solve non-existent problems. As a poll officer, I am required to follow a number of requirements to preclude voter fraud. If it's made time-consuming enough, and hard enough, even fewer people will do it. Maybe government doesn't want us to vote? Wow! I've just had an ah-ha moment. It's a budget saving tool. Fewer voters. Fewer election officers. Fewer places rented to use for voting. I'm sure that the savings goes on and on. The propoenents of more restrictive voting requirement might want to point this out, and those silly liberals who think it's a conspiracy by conservatives to suppress the vote will be enlighted. It's an attempt by government to save money. I'm sure that we can all get behind that.
