Long story short: If you have a technical difficulty during your CLEP exam, DO NOT try to complete the exam.
Long story long: I took Microeconomics last week. I was scheduled to take the exam at 11. The computer I needed to use was being worked on by the IT guy. He had accidentally removed the Clep software from the computer, which needed to be reinstalled. Waited half an hour for him to fix it. When I got about halfway through my exam, the computer acted up and I could not click on my exam window but the clock continued to burn. Sidenote: I'm one of those people that uses every minute of time and I had lost a good chunk of exam time because of the computer freeze. I didn't feel good about it, but I thought it would be in my best interest to try to finish anyways. Ended up running out of time and failed by just a few points. Proctor was made aware of the computer issue. Was told to call CLEP to reschedule it. Proctor said they were "very good" about allowing reschedules for technical issues. Proctor did a problem report. I called CLEP. Sent them a detailed email about the issue.
Got a call today and CLEP says that because I finished the exam I can't get a refund AND I have to wait 3 months to reschedule. Apparently they have a policy of not allowing an exception if you try to finish it EVEN IF the proctor tells them it was a failure due to a test center issue. Seems unreasonable to not allow a retest when the proctor is verifying my story! Pissed..
