If I had to do this all over again, I would take all my 'scary' exams as early on as possible in my degree plan. Once they are taken care of, they are no longer able to hang in the back of your mind...mocking you...taunting you...scaring you.
I agree completely! The only tweaking that I've done is try and mix a very difficult exam with one that I'm positive that I'll knock out of the park and also take care of the required classes first. That way if I (fingers crossed that it never happens) run into trouble on a subject I've got time to either wait to retake an exam, take a class, find an alternate exam for the same requirement.
ie I took the Accounting CLEP and then the Marketing CLEP. Two weeks later I took Analyzing lit and Management. The Lit exam wasn't necessarily hard but long. It also wasn't a required exam but it did satisfy my Humanities credits. Marketing and Management I knew very well. My first run through of the IC material was in the 80% range for both so I figured that they would be easy.
It's been a while since I've taken a test because of schedule and I like to have the material down before making the appointment. I'm kicking off my DSST experience with Statistics. I've run through the IC stuff and have it down. I'm going through the online videos at learner.org and then I'll schedule the test.
