CLEP Introductory Psychology - BEWARE
#1
I studied for weeks for this CLEP. I got a 50 which is passing for most colleges, but mine requires a 51, so I was pretty disappointed. As a warning, the InstantCert flashcards DO NOT COVER EVERYTHING!!! There were many terms and names I was not familiar with simply because I had never seen them before - - they were not on the cards. Do not solely rely on the flashcards. Only a few questions were like the flashcards, most of the questions on the actual test were an given as examples. I would need supplemental information if I were to take this test again. This is just a warning to future test takers.....

Ouch!! Sorry you college requires a 51. I think most people on here use more than one resource for study. The next one check out specific feedback section. Good Luck.

I have never heard of a university that requires just one point above the ACE-recommended passing score -- 5 points and even 10 points, but not 1. Out of curiousity, may I ask which university this is?

That sucks! sorry to hear that. But if you were transferring to TESC it would be considered a pass.

I don't think you should ever expect to pass a test using just flashcards

flashcards should only be used to supplement your studying.
There are plenty of easy, inexpensive books you can buy or get at a library.
There are plenty of good, inexpensive videos you can buy or get at a library or find on the internet.

I've used some of the following for
CLEP Intro to Psych; CLEP Educational Psych; ECE Abnormal Pysch; ECE research Methods; ECE Social Psych; ECE Lifespan Psych

Never use just one source to study for any of the exams. On the other hand when you went through the flashcards did you read the explanations or just the blank? Sometimes you need to go the extra step. Also did you take any practice exams? You can usually find at least one free somewhere. Did you check Freeclepprep.com. Specific exam feedback is also a great resource sometimes as good or better than the flashcards.

The only exam I failed was chemistry, and there are no flashcards for that test. I wish there were. For almost all of the other tests, I just used the flashcards. LOL. I did watch Discovering Psychology by Annenberg Learner for the Intro to Psychology CLEP, and read an online text by Allpsych.com. It was one of my first CLEPs, so I overstudied.

I find that the REA books are GREAT for almost everything but Precalc, Natural Sceinces, and maybe a subject or two other. I was banking on ALEKs getting me through math for the CLEP and that was a terrible mistake.
It's always nice to have two resources to pull from to ensure you don't nail your self.

I know that feeling. The only CLEP I ever failed was Chemistry. Glad I didnt need it. But in the future do not attempt any exam solely on IC flashcards. Do the cards first. My strategy was to go to a Goodwill store or thrift store and look in there book sections for College Textbooks for $2.50-$3.50. Find a college syllabus online and study the chapter reviews at the end of the chapters for vocabulary and etc. IC gives you the basics on the concepts, the books give you the list of vocabulary that you need. And one more thing.....dont know university that is...but I would transfer to TESC!!! IMHO.
