Hi Im taking the Clep American Gov. soon and was wondering if you had any advice on it. What is the difficulty level? In sociology, almost nothing of what I studied w/ instacert was on the test, is it the same way with government?

Never taken the test-- but I've heard it's rather difficult. Try taking the Peterson's tests to see where you are. Rooting for you!!

I supplemented IC with "Cliffs American Government" for the CLEP exam and passed after about a week or so of study. Make sure you have a good understanding of:
Articles of the Constitution
Amendments (with extra focus on the Bill of Rights)
Committees of Congress (positions in the committees)
Breakdown of Congress (how many in Senate/House and where the numbers come from for each)
How a Bill becomes a law (rules about veto and override)
Know what happened in the major court cases:
Marbury v Madison
Roe v Wade
Fletcher v Peck
Dred Scott v Sanford
Mccullough v Maryland
Worcester v Georgia
(There are about 10 or so more that I can't think of off the top of my head, but all of the important ones are mentioned in the Cliffs book)
Judicial review versus Judicial activism
Who nominates Supreme Court justices and the process
Great compromise
3/5 compromise
I'm sure there is more, but that is what comes to mind. Not an extremely difficult test if you are good at memorizing facts. Probably the same difficulty level as U.S. History. Easier for me than Biology and A&I Lit. Harder than Psych. and Org. Behavior. Good luck

I took this 2 weeks ago passed with a 63. I only used IC and repeated the questions until I got a 70% level in all sections. Then continued with randomized questions until 90% plus level. This took 7 cycles of the questions. Know the amendments and Supreme Court cases.
