CLEP College Math HELP!!
#1
My next (and last!!) test I need to take is College Math. I haven't taken any math-related subject in over 10 years and even then I wasn't at all good at math. Can someone please direct me to some good study sites? Also, if anyone has taken this, can you please let me know what it was like and certain areas to focus on?

Much appreciated!

Hi mtngrl,

Although I haven't taken the College Math general CLEP, I did plan to, studied for it and have taken other math tests and courses. Please take this advice with a pinch of salt.

As for any test, the first thing you need to identify is the syllabus and topics that make up the test. The collegeboard website provides a helpful initial breakdown, but looking at and practicing example questions is much better.

The Official CLEP study guide is a very good place to start. It provides example questions that are nearly identical in format and strongly indicative of presentation for any CLEP.

Princeton's Cracking the CLEP is also a very good study book. It provides more example questions than the official guide and it also provides worked solutions.

REA's General Exams (with CDROM) is also a good book, providing more example problems to work through.

I would recommend using one or more of these books to familiarise yourself with the range of problems within the syllabus for the College math exam. You can then pretty much use google to supplement your studying once you are in a position to direct your study. A great site for the College math CLEP is Purplemath which contains lots of worked examples.

So, identify the topics covered, become familiar with the format of questions and practice solving them.

Good luck!

This test was cinch for me, but I was still in high school when I took it, so it was fresh on my mind. I did use cracking the clep and found it to be very close to the actual exam. This site should be helpful to you. Also, if you are a paying member, be sure to check out specific exam feedback. If not, you can search college math and see what you come up with.
