Can anyone tell me how the CLEP College Composition Modular WITHOUT essay is transcripted at TESC? What is it's equivalency and how many credits?
Their website gives this information: ENC-101-CE College Composition Modular passing score: 50 3 credits
But, it doesn't say if the essay is required or not. I'm not an enrolled student yet so can't ask an advisor. When I call or e-mail TESC, I get conflicting answers to my question.
Thanks for your help!

From all I’ve heard, TESC requires College Composition (6 credits, and includes the essays)

Check out the CLEP website - my understanding is CLEP College Composition Modular includes one required essay. It used to be optional but was changed in 2010. I just took CLEP College Composition (6 credits) and it included two essays, waiting for results since the essays must be reviewed and scored.

nini0913, no, the College Composition Modular does not have any required essays. The only English exam that has "required" essays is College Composition (yes, two essays typed into the computer and are included in the overall CLEP score received). All of the other English exams -- College Composition Modular, Analyzing & Interpreting Literature, American Literature, English Literature -- have two optional essays which are handwritten and are not included in the CLEP score you receive.
Nothing has changed about the College Composition Modular exam since it was introduced in 2010 (along with College Composition). It is either no optional essays or two optional essays (which can be supplied by CLEP or supplied by your institution).

So which clep do I need for TESC English composition 6 credit? The modular with no essays, or college composition that requires the two essays.
Thank you

The quote listed above from Westerner is correct, you need to take "College Composition" and not take "College Composition Modular". The college composition exam includes two essays and will get you the six credits in ENC-101 and ENC-102 you need at TESC.
More on the exam can be found here:
College Composition | CLEP
For help on both the essay portion and the question portion for this exam I recommend the CLEP Official Study Guide because it includes the normal full length practice test along with a bunch of information on the essays, sample prompts, and examples of writing indicating how the grading works. Note that due to the essays you will not get a grade for this exam until weeks after it is taken (they mail you a score report).
Good luck.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.
