CLEP Basic Math and College Algebra 1a
#1
Hi, All. Great site...I think I've read over a hundred topics in the last hour or 2...my boss would love that. At least it's educating myself...sorta. Let's get to the point.

I have been out of high school for 15+ years...college 12+....until recently. However I am about to get done and need Basic Math, and College Algebra 1a. I was real good in math back in the day (Geometry, Alg 1, and alg 2)...I used to remember all the formulas and everything off the top of my head...Usually got 95-100 for end of period grades every time. I was wondering...has anyone else been able to study a little, basically "Re-spark" their lost knowlege? I'm not gonna lie, I look at some of the questions now and I'm like...man I know I knew that...and can't think on how to solve it for the life of me...but some of the multiple choice...I can look at and know the answer..but not know how to get to the answer.

If I test out of these 2 classes and turn in my certifications...I will be done In July rather than November. So I want to get done in July...

If possible, If I could re-spark my knowledge, I would like to take both Tests in one day...if not, I would like to take them a few days apart or 1 week apart. I would like to get this done this month. You think it's possible?

If you're still reading, thanks for sticking through my blabber...

Here's the courses and some PDF's (I think pdf's I'm getting from DaFoamy from this site)

MAT/116
ALGEBRA 1A

MAT/115
BASIC MATHEMATICS

^^^ Courses I need to fulfill

• College Algebra
• College Mathematics

^^^ Material from DaFoamy soon I hope..

Then I was also looking into the peterson stuff for help....think this is all I need?

Thanks for any response...

those are pretty basic exams...I would study a little bit with IC and take the Petersons tests and go from there...common sense will get you through a lot on these exams

I was pretty certain that basic math was definitely no problems. I just couldnt remember about algebra. I wasnt sure how many formulas I'd have to remember or do I just have to know 4x+8=32 and x =6...or how deep it actually goes. I could not remember if the basic algebra is just as my example says, or enough so I could pass. So after a little basic studying then, you think I could do both in one day a problem? It's just math so I figure it all falls into one category.

Thanks for you reply.

I have been out of high school since before you were probably born, but I am finding that some of the Shakespear I read back then is coming back. I took History of the Vietnam War last year because I lived through it, and with a little studying that came back.

So in my seasoned opinion, if you were good in math once with a little refreshing you will be able to pass both test. I would take them near each other not the same day, that is a lot of math for 1 day.Rolleyes

I am thinking about taking one or both of those clep's also. I have been out of high school for 23 years so it has been a while for me too. I am going to try and study and see if it does come back some before I sign up for the test and feel the pressure, although the pressure makes me study when I would rather do 1000 other things. Good luck,
