Business in Society was difficult because it is an extended response exam.
Multiple choice, long answer, and short essay. you actually have to know what you are writing about.
I passed it BTW

I took the Advertising TECEP, and used the Advertising book William F. Anens plus I went to the publisherâs web site which had a review test for each chapter.

Mae,
I don't know if you had a chance to see what little feedback there is for these two exams in the Specific Exam Feedback section:
BUSINESS IN SOCIETY: Originally posted by japprend:
Quote:I studied Business and Society by Archie Carroll and Anne Buchholtz, 6th edition. For review, I used the website connected with the book SWLearning for the practice quizzes, and I went back and read the summary at the end of each chapter. You will need to read the whole book. It's all in the test.
The first 30 questions are multiple choice (1 point each), and this part needs to be filled out on a fill-in-the-dot sheet. Then comes 5 short answer questions (5 points each). Last are the three essay questions (15 points each). They give quite a bit of room ( 2 pages) to write each of the essay questions. I don't know how much they wanted me to write, but they gave plenty of room.
I had to know about:
* Issues Management
* Levels of involvement for board members
* The 4 parts of social responsibility
* Ethical issues involved with bribes
* Interaction between government and business.
Some things I had to know about that weren't in the book:
Role of FTC
Delaney Act
ADVERTISING TECEP: Originally posted by Farmerboy:
Quote:This was a relatively easy exam with a lot of common sense questions. There is no thread in the feedback section for this test so I will just post a little bit here. There were quite a few questions on the different aspects of the advertising production. I had no questions dealing with or calculating ratings. There were quite a few questions comparing the different mediums of advertising and what classifications they fall under. There were also a couple questions on management issues that I recognized from Organizational Behavior.
That's the book that used, along with the REA guide to Marketing. I read through the Advertising book once and then looked at the test breakdown and read through the most relavent sections again. A little review of the glossary and quick read through of the advertising section in the REA book was all the studying I did.
When you get done taking these two, please be sure to post some of your
own feedback!
GOOD LUCK!

After having the resources from this site for all my other tests it feels a bit scary to take these without IC flashcards and lots of specific feedback. I am a spoiled instacert user
but I'm sure I will do fine. Thanks for the advice guys!
- I'll try to leave some helpful specific feedback when I finish.

I just took the Advertising TECEP last week and while the test didn't seem that hard, I'm not sure at all if I passed. The test isn't very confusing, but it is detailed. I read the textbook through, and while I never really had no clue on the questions, they used terms that weren't in the textbook. That said, the textbook should be enough. I just don't know if it was enough for me. :o The test is too general to give major areas to study. Make sure to study the "Objective/Task" method of allocating funds, though, and that should help you get 2 or 3 right.
And now, for Society. I'm taking this one next and if I did pass Advertising, it will be my last test before graduation. There isn't nearly as much about Society in the exam section as there is about Policy so I'm naturally a little nervous about it. Thankfully I'm taking it by itself rather than with another TECEP like I did with Operations and Policy.
Is there anyone else with information or tips about Business In Society? I have the textbook and will read it from cover to cover. I just want to make sure I know enough about the areas they will have me right the essays on. Thanks!
