I'd like to get a degree in English
#1
Hello,

I would like to receive a degree in English that would allow me to continue on and receive a masters degree eventually.

I have 37 credit hours completed at a University of Texas school in south Texas that I can apply towards it. I have completed two English courses, rhetoric and composition, as well as most every one of my core requirements for the school.

I will be 27 soon and have failed miserably at going to school due to severe depression. It would be a lot easier to complete a degree that I can finish at home.

I wanted to see which school would be able to offer me what I'm looking for for the best price available.

I hope to hear from you all and I'm very happy that I found this wonderful forum!

We were looking into this for my sister for a while. I think it seemed like Charter Oak would be cheapest. If she went this route, she was going to utilize a lot of the Ohio University tests for her English major.

If you're going to take a lot of courses with the school, then TESC's comprehensive tuition plan is the cheapest. If you're going to transfer the courses in from another source, then Charter Oak is the cheapest.

TESC's English BA looks significantly more like a Literature degree, oddly enough.

Here are my approx. costs for the degree:
~$1k: 60 credit hours of CLEPs
$3800 (-$2k scholarship)= $1800: 30 cr hrs at community college
$8k (-$2k)= $6k: 30 cr hrs and misc fees at TESC
= ~$13000 total

And as a side note, BYU Independent Study has some fantastic looking literature & english classes: University Online Course Catalog - BYU Independent Study

I wish you all the best on your degree!! Big Grin
