Does anyone know if Penn Foster is strict on their minimum age being 17? Is it like TESC where you can petition for an age exemption?

I have copied/pasted my email from PF. Hope this sheds light on age and earning credits.
....... I am so happy that you contacted me today. I would be more than happy to help you with all your concerns to make sure this will be a good fit for all of your children. Penn Foster does provide dual enrollment options for High School students. Penn Foster does offer several courses that are ACE approved. If your children are under the age of 18; when they completes the course their transcripts will be printed off on High School transcripts. Once, your children have completed high school and are least 18 years of age I will be able to provide you with College transcripts for their courses taken. Please, follow the link listed below which; will take you to the official ACE website and will show you listing of the ACE approved courses that Penn Foster High School can provide to your children. ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training It will be very important that you contact me directly or speak with someone in the HSCS Department concerning single Penn Foster Dual Credit courses. HSCS will be able to provide you with prober knowledge and forms regarding these courses. If you should need any further information or have questions please, do not hesitate to contact me! I am in the office Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 5:30PM (EST). I will look forward to hearing back from you; working with you and you children in the future! Have a great day! This is not a good answer from Penn Foster. I believe that they are confusing their policy of their OWN high school students using college credit as dual enrollment. (They do offer high school courses which probably is why her answer is worded the way it is) I think you need to go up a rung on the chain to someone else if she can't help you. They can't control what you award for high school credit for, again that kind of statement screams that she's confusing 2 different things. Now, they CAN restrict admission based on age, which is one thing. However, if your child is allowed to enroll, then the ONLY transcript from PF coming your way is COLLEGE credit, not high school.
The wording on her reply makes me believe she is mixed up, not that they restrict enrollment. EDIT: You may get further if you don't use the words "dual enrollment" because I believe that was the phrase that sent her down the wrong path. What you want to ask specifically is if your XX age child can enroll in a college course, and if there is a process that you need to follow to make that happen (placement test, SAT scores, etc). |
