I was wondering how the Petersons compared to the actual test? How'd you score on those compared to the actual CLEP, which was more difficult? Did you use the REA book/practice tests? How long did you study before taking the actual CLEP?

Study Time: How I Did It…
Pre-Study-Prep: Obtain or set up whatever materials I will need to study (IC Flashcards, REA Books, Standard Deviants Videos, Pass-Your-Class Guides, and Petersons Practice Exams.
Week One: Begin to read books, review flashcards, watch videos. Call your test center and make an appointment in advance as they sometimes require a few weeks advance notice).
Week Two: Re-read books, review flashcards, watch videos Take 1-2 practice exams* (REA, Petersons).
Week Three: Continue to review all materials, take additional/final practice exams. You should be passing these with room to spare. Take real exam at end of the week and PASS. In addition, you should have at this point already acquired pre-study-prep materials for your next exam so as not to waste time.
* It should be noted that there are many (like me) who feel that the practice exams may be a bit more difficult and as such if you are able to "pass" a practice exam (with room to spare) you should do well when you sit the actual exam.

I hate to be the guy who says to do a search but this question comes up a lot. So do a search.
For me, I read the REA book for biology and nat science, did the speedyprep flash cards, watched kahn academy vids, read exam specific feedback, took the REA tests and two peterseons tests. Give yourself some time to read the material and learn this stuff. Know your plants and KPCOFGS.

I have a chance to take it this Friday, which gives me 5 days. Ive been studying 2 days now, for 5+ hours a day. Took my first petersons practice test after day 1 and got a 40%. I'd really like to take this test Friday, but not sure if it's enough time.
I've also been looking over these links, using REA book, AP Barrons flash cards, Sparknotes 101 Bio, and deviant standard dvds

I averaged 71% correct on the three Peterson's exams, which is close to my 73 on the actual test. The 73 on the actual test is not the percentage correct. All of this can be found from a search.
I think a 40% correct on a Peterson's biology test indicates a failing score is probable on the real test.

I agree 40% would be failing, but...it was my first practice test, out of my available 6. It was more to see what a practice test is like and learn from it.
After 1 day of studying, also.

In my opinion, its not a good idea to "waste" a practice test with just one day of studying under your belt. Its a good thing you have 6 more.
This test covers 2 semesters of content so give yourself enough time. I think 5 hrs a day is great but you probably need to do that for 10 days straight to learn this much material.
Also take the time to actually read the book instead of just doing practice questions from it. Reading is a lost art these days.

Test 1 and 2 on the Peterson's exams are a pretty accurate measure of how you will do "raw score." When I completed my CLEP for Biology I received a 61. On the practice exams I got Test 1 64, Test 2: 64, and Test 3: 47. With a score of 40% I would not go take the test. I studied for 4 days before the test and passed so it can be done but you need to be very rigid in your studies.
Resources to pass the exam:
Wikipedia links for CLEP Biology posted by clep3705:

Instant Cert Flash Cards
Barron's AP Biology Flash Cards
CliffsAP Biology
notes and posts from Instant Cert Members portion of the forum
Crash Course on Youtube
Brainstorm2 on Youtube
If you go over these things and then take the practice tests hopefully you will do fine.
Hope this helps!
