I took my first CLEP a few days ago. I paid the testing center their $15 on site. When I started taking the test it asked for a credit card number to pay for the $72 - which I gave. It didn't seem to verify it though. Looking at my credit card account online, it doesn't seem to have billed yet - been 2 days.
I'm relying on getting the credits for this test to transfer over to a difference school in the spring, so I don't want to have any delays. What is the general timeframe for the charge to show up so I can confirm everything went through correctly?
Also, the testing center I went to said it takes them 4-6 weeks to get the official scores from CLEP. I received my instant score (66), is this the normal timeframe for a college to get all the info updated?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Don't worry. It sometimes takes a week for the CLEP or DSST to post to my credit card. They aren't in any hurry for their money I guess.

I'm not sure how it works with CLEP, but once on a DANTES I put in the wrong expiration date for my card and it kicked it back immediately. It's probably the same with the CLEP; if you've gotten to the test, you should be fine.

I remember the same uneasiness when this happened to me, but yeah, sometimes it can take a week or two for the exam to post to your credit card.
As to how long it takes for your college to get the info updated and post your CLEPs to your transcript, that really depends on the college. If it doesn't show up after a month or so, feel free to call your college and pester them. Sometimes that will speed things along.

ClepPro, there have been other postings in the past where people compared various testing fees. The CLEP / DSST fees are standardized but each center can set their own. One center I went to charged $25 but the one I go to now, NSU, it is $15 paid with a money order, as too many people gave bad checks, no credit cards. They don't want to deal with the credit card processing and fees that discount what they want and that is okay with me if it is saving me $10.
Anyway, I think the last time this subject came up there were come paying as much as $50+. Check around in your area and compare and adjust for the time and distance you need to travel to get to it.
One person even commented on the college testing center he went to was good because of the lattes
